As someone who doesn't own any VR headsets or even a VR capable machine, I'd definitely buy into that just to try out this game and many of the other ones worth playing. It's getting more and more tempting with every release.

The way I look at it is that, considering all of the stuff that occurred with a potential HL3 or Episode 3 of Half-Life 2 this last decade, this is better than all of the hints people were searching for that were probably just stuff that Valve was repurposing from their work on Half-Life 2 as opposed to a confirmation that anything was coming at all.

anyone have both vive and index ? Is supersampling on Vive gonna look good like normal resolution on index ? Some people suggest me to save money and get controllers standalone to pair with Vive and steam vr 1.0.

This definitely did NOT take less than a year, they only announced it once development was close to finished.

I will wait for reviews, but am expecting this game to be the game changer that does what VR has needed to be done for a while. If the game is off rails, and the story draws you in as with previous Half-Life games, then I'll most likely upgrade my GFX card and invest in a VR kit before summer of this year.
