The behavior from TX (denying it happened, pushing a developer to break the law) in that entire situation definetly would constitute harassment, and the thing is that that thread is more of a really good example of TXs behavior and treatment of major developers, which given from what I get from hexkyz (and similar claims made by other scene members) is consistent, which makes it harassment.
Oh boy, several questions.
"Why would they advertise a product that will never come?" - I don't claim TX won't ever release their modchip/flashcard. As said by hexkyz, they're trying to perfect glitching attacks on ipatched and Mariko units so they can sell a modchip. If they do, they'll release that. I'm claiming their current claim of it coming "soon" is bogus, since it was originated from the reseller rumor mill and TX ran with it.
"Who with an unpatched switch that wasn’t already using sx is going to go “hm that’s good of them I’m going to buy their cfw even though I don’t need it because they’ve promised to hack future devices I don’t own”?" - It gets their brand name out there to more people. This is a claim that draws significant attention to them and it could persuade users who have unpatched switches to realize "hey, I can buy their product". There is definite gain for TX to keep the rumor going here.
"That does not make sense. If this ends up being fake all it means is that people will lose faith in sx which they would never want." - Again, TX is of the belief that any publicity is publicity they welcome, regardless on if its good or bad. If they actually cared about bad publicity, they wouldn't do a lot of the things they've been criticized for since their first SX OS release, since it's bad publicity. If they did, your point would be right, but it's clear they don't care.
They give zero fucks on if people have faith in them, they just want to exploit individuals who don't know any better to get rich from them.
