Hello,
My Switch's eMMC stopped working as I was booting the new Zelda xci for the first time ( it froze on the switch and nintendo logo black screen).

Hekate cannot find, backup or restore my eMMC. HacDiskMount, Memloader doesn't work. Battery is fine. Opened Switch everything looks clean inside.

I believe it was the XCI file itself (possibly brick code) but I'm not sure, yet. I got it from that very popular place It leaked in.
I'm using SX OS with 8.1 FW ( no emuMMC). I have a clean backup of 5.1FW. My switch was (is) not banned. I did have some issues (corruption error-codes) this summer and did do a restore of that backup, but everything has been fine since.

Questions:

I went ahead and ordered a new eMMC module, but if I change eMMC's my console will be flagged if i decide to go online with OFW?

Also, is there anything else it can be done like getting a usb eMMC reader I can plug the board to and flash my clean backup?

Edit:
Anyone..help?

Thank you

You could try this tut
http://pascoe.pw/2018/09/switchnand.html
And restore your old backup onto your new emmc. I did it when I upgraded my emmc to a bigger one. You should be able to just plug in your new emmc module and restore your backup
Thanks for the link, yes that is plan B.
I already ordered one last week.

But the true questions here is:

Will I be banned for using a new eMMC?

Is a Usb or SD emmc module reader worth it to resurrect the bricked eMMC? It doesn't show up at all with memloader.

The problem there is the emmc readers all require you to remove the emmc from the board and the ones i looked at where all about $300

As for a ban im not 100% sure but i would think that if you get your emmc repaired at a shop they would do the same procedure of replacing the emmc. I have never been online after replacing mine becuase of all the homebrew error logs i made while debugging my apps so i cant say you wont get banned for sure but i would think that what your trying to do is a repair and not mod or hack so it should be on the safer side

Thanks again for your feedback.
I actually found very cheap eMMC readers that can connect (i think) to the pinout of the switch memory module:

https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/usb3-0-emmc-module-writer/

https://www.hardkernel.com/shop/emmc-module-reader-board-for-os-upgrade/

But I have no idea if this works!

But i might buy it and see since its so cheap 1.50$ for a micro sd eMMC module reader!

Yea for the price it might be worth a try. I might have to get me a usb3 module writer to play with

Conclusion:
My eMMC module is bricked hard, I swapped it for a new one and my Switch is back.
My switch was either victim of brick code on a leaked Link's Awakening or a bricking bug on SX OS XCI loader.

You should double-check your source when you get your games, since Zelda was leaked before release date, you need to get it from trusted source.

u could get ban if u build a mmc bigger than official (32gb) but i am not sure

I put a bigger one in mine and went online a couple of times and wasn’t banned in the first week then i started making alot of error logs and haven’t tried since but I haven’t actually heard of anyone getting banned just for the bigger emmc not yet anyway
