http://www.infectus.biz/news.php?news=2007-11-24%2002.49.08.

Seems infectus is making a chip called argon as a direct competitor to the d2ckey as well as just releasing the code for the standard infectus chip.

Should be nice as it won't be as big as the normal infectus chip and should be ready to go when you get it , rather than having to put the code on it yourself before use , like you would with the normal infectus chip.

Ugh - why don't the d2ckey people just get together with the Wlip people already.  Or Wlip just put out a new version with all the appropriate pins wired by themselves.

Why would they?. D2Ckey works , they don't care if people who can't solder can't fit it. Teaming up with wlip would mean sharing profits.Besides that , wlip don't even have the other versions of their clip thing out. Maybe want to get that out first and make sure the damn thing works ok , before going for one that has to contact 31 points.

D2CKey may well be outdated soon anyway. Once the infuctus chip appears , assuming it works good , no one is going to go for 31 wires over the 13 of the infectus.

Hmmm, it seems they do care as this thread is about the flexPCB by D2CKey and it's only purpose is to simplify the install. The Wlip works by sitting on top of the chip and if it works for 6 pins it will also work for 31(33 with power) or 13(as long as all the Infecuts points are on the d2c chip) - it's just a matter of adding more wires and contact points. I think they care most about selling more chips - if there is an easy no solder solution they could sell many more d2ckeys to those who don't have the skills to solder but don't want to pay extra for an install. Of course there would be soldering to the mod chip itself but that is easy compared to soldering onto the d2c chip legs.

If they don't want to share profits then just steal the Wlip design. If not that then have distributors sell them as a package deal with the Wlip and the modchip already soldered together, then the end user could just crack open the Wii and snap it on. It seems to me the main block to selling more d2ckeys is the install difficulty, but as you said it may be too late already as more d2c options appear.

I think they care most about selling more chips - if there is an easy no solder solution they could sell many more d2ckeys to those who don't have the skills to solder but don't want to pay extra for an install. Of course there would be soldering to the mod chip itself but that is easy compared to soldering onto the d2c chip legs.

I disagree about them caring cos of the flexpcb. It does nothing but save you time as you don't have to route wires about. It still targeted at the people who can fit the d2ckey anyway. If you can't fit one with wires , you wouldn't be able to with the flex pcb either as the points are still the same.

About the wlip , what I meant about making sure it works properly on the 6 wire chips first , before they get a 31 wire is this. So far , we only have their word that it works good. It isn't out yet so there isn't a huge base to test for problems , it could come out and be exactly like the dms ezi (crap). Hence they wait to make sure there are no major probs with the 6 wire clip once it's out to the general public , before going ahead with the 31.

As for the tough install blocking d2ckey sales , can't argue with that. How ever going back the easy no solder install to help on this area , I must point out this. Ps2 chips are considered hard to install , yet only one of the many chip teams attempted a no solder mod (dms ezi) , that uses the same sort of clip on system the wlip will and why? , because they don't work well (google search the ezi and you will find many horror stories) , so maybe the mod teams think it just aint worth their time.

Though , this is all irrelavent anyway , as d2ckey will be good as dead in it's current form once the 13 wire ones are out

Would be great if they include it with the D2Ckey for free

I did the 30 wire instal which worked fine to start with, but then the Wii started to get errors & a disk got stuck in the drive
unsure.gif
, I got the disk out & it worked again for half-hour then got stuck again
frown.gif
, I removed the disk but then the drive wouldn't except disks (they wouldn't go into the drive) :'( , So I had to remove the whole wiring job

The Wii works fine now, but I need that FlexPCB to refit the chip

Any news of the FlexPCB? any suppliers in the UK?

From what I know only samples are out right now.

If there are samples out, shouldn't there be reviews or something? Or more pics?
I haven't seen a thing :/

The only people that supply flex's are the d2ckey team. Ausx doesn't have access to the team, because he sells clone wiikey

There are no sample for anyone but those in the d2ckey team.
The Flex was delayed, so no one has it. No guessing.

I emailed the Dutch D2Ckey reseller, and he told me he has received the first load of FlexFCB's today
Awesome. I'll look around for it other places.
Be sure to post back after you get it.

Edit: Google search found me some pics from people who have it:

(From here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/d2ckey/61444-d...flexpcb-3.html)

And on sale (AU): http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/flexpcb...ckey-p-225.html

I can only seem to find them in AU stores so far.
