So with the release of the new Flycast I thought of the idea of hooking up my EMS Top Gun 3 to my Switch because I wanted to play Confidential Mission. It takes both ports one for the leeds that hook up to your TV to have movement and one for the usb stick that powers the wireless gun. It gives power to them as they light up, but of cousre they didn't actually work in game. Even though I know it's a long shot just wanted to see if someone could make drivers for them to work? If it could just work with Retroarch it would give us access to lightgun games on MAME, PS1 and Dreamcast/Naomi, as well as older consoles like NES (Duck Hunt). While I appreciate the work put in people have done to use the touchscreen with your finger it's not even close to the same.

EMS Top Gun 3 works on quite a few systems: PC, PS2, Xbox and PS3. I really was hoping it would recognize it as a mouse like it does on PC but no joy.

Lol, that's one point for you I'll give it up.

It's a shame that most people don't appreciate lightgun games though with a real lightgun. They were awesome.

to answer your question? maybe? the fact the switch has an ir sensor and the lightgun iirc uses ir to communicate with the nes they (nintendo) may need to make an ir sensor reciever because the switches one is on the R JC on the bottom

First step would be to try and get it going with the joycons as lightguns, and I don't think it works with those first. Heck, I couldn't get it to work properly with the touchscreen as a gun.

Old thread, but you don't necessarily need the IR to make emulated light gun games or other rail shooters work. You could easily use the motion controls to emulate a mouse or move the crosshair like a lot of shooters on Switch (Fortnite, Warframe, Paladins, Overwatch, etc.), or the shooters on Wii that used the Wii remote to aim (especially rail and lightgun arcade ports like the RE Chronicles games and stuff like The House of The Dead 2 and 3 Return and Ghost Squad ports).

Or in the case of emulators on Switch, use the gyro and a cursor to emulate touch inputs that themselves emulate lightgun or mouse inputs.
