OP
I haven't payed much attention to the switch hacking/modding community in a long time(probably 3 months after switch first launched) and I'm curious if there's someones found a way to go online with CFW or with NSPs(I legally own the games. I downloaded the NSP in the case the game is ever taken down in future or etc;) ?

i heard emunand is a pain to use is that true?
I am currently using emuMMC for Atmosphere and i must say it is not hard at all. If i want to go online and use my sysNAND, i can just boot up the switch normally. If i want to go into my emuMMC, then i use the dongle. Have yet to be banned and im loving it

emuNAND is easy to use once it's setup, and the setup process isn't too bad for the average user.

With a clean sysNAND for online play and a dirty emuNAND for offline hackery, the likelihood of a ban is very low.

So are you guys actually running this setup and using your clean sysNAND to go online?
Reeeally want to play Mario Maker online but all I'm seeing everywhere is "you might still be banned".
So can Nintendo see that you partitioned your drives? How can they detect the emuNAND part of the Switch?
Oh and is there a difference between the emuNANDs? Is Atmosphere's safer than SX?

Nintendo can not detect what is on your sd card as far as people know. Apart from that, even if they could, reading someones storage files would be highly illegal. As for which is safer, I highly doubt either would make a difference, although if I had to put money on one, I would pick SX OS over Atmosphere right now, simply for the fact that SX OS has been running emunand for much longer and noone has ever reported a ban. Emummc is still in its early stages.

Can you explain me how to launch the clean sysNAND? How do you update the sysNand? With CFW running to prevent burning some fuses?

If you care about fuses, you need to install AutoRCM. Then, update your clean sysNAND in the system settings while running Atmosphere, which will leave AutoRCM installed. Anytime you want to launch your clean sysNAND after that, you will use Hekate to run OFW.

Alternatively (if you have a reliable jig and you're okay taking a risk), you can install AutoRCM, update your clean sysNAND in the system settings without Atmosphere, and then boot into Hekate immediately after the update using your reliable jig so you can reinstall AutoRCM.

If you don't care about downgrading in the future, then you don't need to worry about fuses at all.

If you don't care about online play, you do not need an emuNAND. However, you still don't want to connect your Switch to the internet without 90DNS and/or Incognito. If you connected your Switch to the internet (without 90DNS and/or Incognito) with NSP files installed, you are probably going to be permanently banned if you're not banned already.

quick question, even with apps like YouTube ?

If you're in CFW it doesn't matter what you're doing, if you're online you're at risk for a ban.

You'd have to have a clean Nand backup and restore it and go online using OFW to be safe, and then use Emunand when going on CFW.

How does one update the emunand fw? I understand there are solutions like choidujour and sxinstaller now for changing fw. But it seems using those you are stuck with autorcm making booting into the clean sysnand no longer possible / desirable.

Why not just create a new emunand from an updated sysnand?

Just to understand the things clearly : if emuNAND gets banned, the physical Switch is banned ?
If I want to go online with my emuNAND, do I risk banning my clean sysNAND ? Should emuNAND always be offline ?

Yes that is correct, they will ban your Switch console entirely. The whole point of the emunand setup is that it never connects to Nintendo, only your clean sysnand.

I use sxos emunand as a hidden partition and use online very regular have done for nearly 18 months I would say roughly and I have never received a ban due to online gaming use. I will add I do own all these online titles but they are all used backed up in xci format.

Its a bit risky obviously. So far I have yet to be banned. Using KOSMOS on my Sys. I have an active Nintendo Online Sub I use. I play Splatoon 2 and MHGU that I legally own online fine with no problems. You cannot though connect to any online services with pirated roms ofc. But other than that I am playing online with KOSMOS perfectly like normal.
