Donkey Kong Country Returns now available on the Nvidia Shield in China only

While you can already get your Donkey Kong Country Returns fix by playing it on the Nintendo Wii or 3DS, those in China get to experience the game in a way that no other region can: on the NVIDIA Shield. Running at 1080p and 60fps, this is the best performing and looking version of the game you can play, officially. Much like the 3DS port, there are no motion controls, and DKCR can be played entirely with a standard controller. If you want to know how the game plays on the Shield, you can check out some footage, which was uploaded to YouTube. This is the fourth Nintendo Wii title to come to the Shield, following Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I have a nvidia shield portable tablet so if I really wanted to I could play this release, but I rather wait until we get Wii games on the Switch.

It's possible that Nvidia has exclusivity rights for these Wii games.
Switch is basically a stronger Nvidia Shield so maybe it was part of their deal

The Switch is actually less powerful than the Shield and doesn't have a lot of its functionality, but the Shield doesn't run Switch games so it's best to own both.

How have these not been RE’d yet? I would love to play SMG on my Shield TV.

I periodically check dolphins ability to play Wii sports on it too, and rn it is close, but still sloooowwww.

You can flash a Chinese image and go from there. I've never done it, but it's not like it's hard to access the shields bootloader.

Yeah, screw China. I would rather not support shitty hardware made by child slave labor that breaks every two years, but I guess because someone is now standing up to them and console prices might increase that it's cool to support child slavery and general horrible working conditions and shiity hardware.

It would be easy money, Imagine Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 HD on the switch running in HD.

Well, there was the HD texture pack for the 1st game. I believe there was one for the 2nd game that either is or isn't complete? I'd have to check the Dolphin Texturing subforum.

It's the other way around. Switch is a downclocked Nvidia Shield with 1/3 more ram.

I’m still unhappy the Switch DKCR:TF release didn’t include both games.

I had hoped that tropical freeze on the switch had had more stages like dkcr on the 3ds. I read that tropical freeze was/is one of the top sellers on the switch, so you'd think they'd have sort of dlc addons or something.

The game has plenty of stages so stop being greedy and is a great platformer so go buy it today

Why the heck arent any of the chinese Nintendo games dumped yet? Twilight Princess, Mario Galaxy and now this!

I suppose the only reason Nintendo are allowing Wii games to be released on the Shield is because in China the Wii never had an official release, so this is Nintendo's way of finally taking advantage of the Chinese market. If they allowed those games to be released globally they would be competing with themselves.
For a long time China banned the sales of game consoles from foreign companies, Nintendo had to partner up with iQue to release the N64 and DS there, but I don't think there was ever an iQue Wii (or even GC) release.
I would really like to see someone get them running on other Android devices as well besides the Shield TV.
