Well since air gets thinner the higher you go, it'd probably hit the target in the Black Forest first since it's 5k feet above sea level IIRC, and Death Valley is below by some amount I don't know.

Death Valley is actually in California, it’s know for having the hottest temperature ever recorded anywhere. (Gotten up to about 134 degrees)
