Another ten titles have been revealed for the Genesis Mini

SEGA has slowly been unveiling their future lineup for the Genesis Mini that’s due out later this year. Another set of ten games have been revealed, with a fairly unique inclusion on the list. Sonic Spinball, Golden Axe, Vectorman, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Wonder Boy in Monster World, Phantasy Star IV, Beyond Oasis, and Ghouls ‘N Ghosts are all expected additions to the list, while Street Fighter II is an odd pick, due to the Genesis Mini only offering a 3-button gamepad bundled in. The standout game here, however, is Mega Man: The Wily Wars, which is a remake of the first three Mega Man games, on the Genesis. What makes this such an interesting pick, is because the game was never released physically in North America, only being available on SEGA Channel. You’ll be able to get your hands on the game, and the Genesis Mini, when it launches on September 9th.

It could have been worst like Terraingma which never got officially released in USA ever, but most people don't seem to feel bad about playing and reviewing repoduction carts of games on youtube. :ninja:

Probably because Quintet went under without a clear sign of who owns the rights, so there's little to no hope of a re-release. Also, it's another example of not-really-a-region-exclusive that had fully translated to English and hence would have fallen into the same camp as other very late SNES releases that are mostly just exceptional rare to the point of unobtainable. Having said that, I personally wouldn't buy a repo/repro* cart. Some sort of limited SNES flash cart? Yes. That'd be quite awesome.

* Funny how often I've seen it contracted as repo, and certainly how I hear it in my head. But is repro "right"? No idea.

[...] Seems like Nintendo is the only company that can drum up support for these "classic" systems so far.

<trolling>
Maybe because Nintendo's games are the only one's that can be considered real classics... The rest are just that... and most just copycats. (errmm Sony?).

NES Classic got hype because, c'mon, it's Nintendo. It was also the first "major" one, not counting Atari Flashbacks and other cheap plug and play crap. It essentially started the trend.
SNES Classic got hype because it was following up on the excellent product that was the NES Classic, it had a complete Star Fox 2 ROM in it, and come on, SNES is fucking rad.

Meanwhile Sony had some initial hype before it turned out the games list was crap and the emulation blew. No DualShocks was kind of lame too.
This one? I'd say there's some level of hype, but the fact the AtGames ones were so shit, despite just being licensed and not a Sega product, scares people. These should be fine, IMO, seeing as they're Sega in-house with M2 heading the emulation.

Now... let's get some Sonic 3 & Knuckles up in here.

The Wily Wars came out of nowhere.
Now I'll need to get my hands on one of these.
I always knew that they would release it. Make senses to me because of Mega Man 11 so they wants to bait fan of MegaMan/Rockman to get it. I am one of them. I am getting Europe Mega Drive Mini. Until someone hack it then I add Rockman MegaWorld into Europe Mega Drive Mini.. 2 are better than one. :P:)

i pray for that game to be in there, but i heard it's hard to do because of licensing music

I'll stick to the Castlevania and Contra collections. Apart from Castlevania Bloodlines and Contra: Hard Corps, I already have every other Genesis game I want on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

What I really want is Skies of Arcadia HD. Unlikely to happen in the near future sadly.

I don't expect it, but I'd love if they manage to pull it off, licensing be damned. For the longest time, we thought the reason Super FX games couldn't be rereleased was licensing, but Nintendo pulled em out just for the SNES Classic. Who knows.

I'm tempted to get one but the three button controllers means I'll have to replace them later.
Suppose they'll be trying to sell those retrobit controllers to make up for it though I'd probably buy a couple of those anyway so I guess thats fine.
Hope they don't lock it up too much it'll be nice if it has enough horse power for 32x and Sega CD games but I'd much rather have them on there officially.
Still nice to see SEGA finally do this right.
Hope the next ten games will be some more rare stuff like Monster World 4 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles which goes missing a lot.
Hope they include the Japanese versions too.

I am interested n seeing what hardware they use, and if it will be easily hackable to add more games like the PS1 classic. Most-likely an AllWinner H2 with 512MB RAM, and 1GB of flash storage onboard. But we'll see.

Let's hope The Wily Wars doesn't use the PAL version, as that'd mean slower music.

Well, at least the games list to me seems to be becoming more interesting than the ps classic.

Might pick up at some point*.

But seriously, they need to find a way to get s3&k on there, fm synth versions of alternative music even exist for the MJ/Jetzons songs and they’re not against rom hacks.
If the music is such an issue, why's the game available on Steam. I call the MJ involvement as being reason BS as best, there's no proof that's the reason.

They already made a mini why do it again. I used to see them in bed bath and beyond for $30 all the time.

You really don't know about ATGames, do you?

Not very hard to do when the games on the PS Classic weren't (for the most part, there were some standouts of the PS1 library in there) exactly what I'd call top notch. I mean, fucking Battle Arena Toshinden got in over Soul Blade/Soul Edge/Soul Calibur Zero. Yeah, the game might not be as memorable or as important as Soul Calibur (I wouldn't have known of its relation to Soul Calibur until my brother got some bootleg off of eBay back in the late 90's/early 2000's when I was just discovering ZSNES, ePSXE, and those old emulators back in the Windows BSOD/2000/XP days), but why a game series that didn't even last outside of the fifth generation of consoles? Because it was a launch/very early release title!?

Not to mention how easy it is to open the menu (and I just, by some freakshow of a coincidence, happen to have the right keyboard (Corsair STRAFE) to easily do it laying around in the event I need a wired keyboard and my Corsair K63 + Lapboard doesn't work for something) and change the settings to make things better in a way that makes me wonder why they didn't just buy a bunch of RPi3s/ODroid XU4's, repackage them, encase them in a classic PS1 enclosure, install some variant of ES that only runs PS1 games and that looks like the PS1 BIOS menu (with an option to preferably change to the PSOne BIOS menu), and call it a day?
