I'm curious if brickware was ever spread for the 3ds. I know the switch had the lgpe brickware that went around and tx has their copy protection. Did the 3DS ever have this issue? If so is there a way to scan for it?
no. this was never a issue. We have ntrboot to recover from almost any brick anyways. So there is very little to be worried aboutI'm curious if brickware was ever spread for the 3ds. There were people who claimed to get bricked with official gateway cartsPeople like to spread the rumor that gateway bricked random consoles, but in reality it did not. These people are uninformed and like to jump to conclusions. It only bricked consoles who used a clone card, NEVER an actual gateway card user was bricked simply by using it how it's intended.
Making brickware for the 3DS is relatively easy from what I heard, but luckily no one with enough knowlede of how to make it has ever tried afaik.
EDIT: Just saw the person above me thinking exactly how I said. The reason Gateway is not brickware is because everyone is fully aware it did contain code to brick consoles and everyone knew exactly how and how not to trigger it. If you know exactly the cause for the bricks and the solution, it really isn't brickware. Plus that's not it's sole intended purpose
https://gbatemp.net/threads/add-1-to-the-3ds-death-count-shall-we.360869/Gateway bricked one of the GBATemp staff's 3ds' with a legit review cart. I think it was Devin.
Low chance of happening, yes, but still possible on legit hardware without tinkering. Pretty shitty IMO. Had to replace his whole 3ds.
