What will happen if I buy 2nd hand JoyCon that have been updated to latest firmware and I connect them to my hacked Switch? Is it safe to do so?

As far as I know, Yoshi's Crafted World doesn't have an update yet.

Would have preferred the questions to be numbered but I'll just give a general answer in regards to everything you posted.

The best way to not get banned with SX OS is to relegate all CFW/homebrew in EmuNAND while keeping SysNAND as clean as possible for online play. SysNAND can be on whatever firmware you want as the exploit is based on the hardware, not software. However CFW is firmware-dependent and new firmware updates can break CFW. This issue is magnified for EmuNAND as if EmuNAND is ever updated to a firmware that CFW doesn't support, you will not be able to boot it. This is an inconvenience for SysNAND as while you may not be able to boot CFW on a firmware CFW doesn't currently support, you can downgrade SysNAND to a firmware that CFW supports unlike EmuNAND. In all other instances, EmuNAND and SysNAND can be on whatever firmware you want. Of course if you want to play games online with SysNAND, you have to update SysNAND to the latest firmware.

In terms of making a NAND backup, the only things that can dirty it are CFW/homebrew. Payloads don't taint the NAND as they are technically loaded outside of the NAND (coldboot) and all the dongle does is send a payload.

If you want to keep your console as safe as possible, its better to do the offline activation over the online one.

For Wi-Fi settings, once again it is up to you. There are certain things you can only do with Wi-Fi settings such as online play, FTP, homebrew app store, wireless CFW updater tools, etc. However you risk getting nagged to update your system firmware if it is not on the latest. And even if its on the latest, a new firmware can drop at any time that can break CFW as described earlier. Stealth Mode can mitigate this issue but if your goal is to not taint SysNAND with CFW/homebrew, then you can't use Stealth Mode. You can use 90DNS on SysNAND whenever you aren't playing online to prevent new system updates from being downloaded. Otherwise everything else you listed is fine.
Switch games come in 2 formats, .NSP and .XCI. .XCI files are 1:1 copies of Nintendo Switch cartridges which you can either mount with SX OS or install with any CFW. .NSP files are game content that you can install such as games, updates, and DLC which all CFW also support. It also really doesn't matter where you install games as long as you have space and remember where you install it. Installing to NAND makes games launch faster versus SD cards but the NAND is limited at 26 GB while the Switch supports SD cards up to 2 TB.
Perfect. Thanks

Another stupid question: do sysnand and TX is emunand need to be on the same fw or can I update sysnand now and wait a bit before updating emunand? They are both on 6.2 right now.

Ahh. Thanks so much for the reply. i just got 2 more questions

1) My SX Pro is currently being shipped... I want to use my clean switch for the time being, but I can wait. Should I update to the latest firmware (7.0.1) via Nintedo now or with Choidujournx when my SX Pro comes -- keeping in mind that I have not yet backed up my NAND. Should I do the back up before I update? conventional logic tells me yes. Then when I update I should make another backup on 7.0.1? Should I bother backing a backup after I set up CFW on emunand.

2) ON SX OS, Im guessing I can boot CFW on SYSNAND or Emunand and the same for OFW. Do i need to completely restart the Switch to switch between SYSNAND and EMUNAND or is it just a simple press of a button. Is there a way to disable CFW on SYSNAND and purely have OFW running on SYSNAND and CFW running on Emunand?

1) The advantage of upgrading with ChoiDujourNX is that you can downgrade later on if you want to. If you update with official system update, your switch will burn fuses at the next boot with Nintendo boot loader. So if you care about downgrade, you should update with ChoiDujourNX. Always create a backup before you update. Also keep a clean backup of your switch, before you run CFW.
2) No, you need to go to RCM again, inject SX OS payload and boot in whatever you want. You can also boot with SX OS to OFW but I am not sure if that's totally clean (I guess it should be, otherwise it would be useless).

Ahh so..
1) Wouldnt Nintendo know that I updated with Choidujournx since my fuses haven't blown yet? I read somewhere that since all firmware is exploitable right now, there should be no need to downgrade. Am I wrong?
2) Do i have this right... If I want to boot into SYSNAND w/ OFW to play purchased games online all I do is boot the Switch normally without RCM/Payload. To boot into Emunand/CFW I would need to use RCM and inject the payload. If I want to switch back from either/or I have to fully turn the system off and boot. Sleep mode wont cut it?

1) No one has been banned for that yet. Every firmware is exploitable on unpatched consoles.
2) Yeah but if you boot in OFW without custom payload fuses will be burned. If you put your console in sleep modes it’s still in OFW or CFW after wake up.

I'm finding it difficult to find .xci files Is there a tool like the USB Helper for the WiiU but for switch?

Yes, and no.

There isn't a PC app like Wii U's USB Helper. However, if you're just looking for a comprehensive, easy method to download xci and nsp titles straight onto a Switch, using a modified version of Tinfoil that connects to a title list of downloads. The YouTuber M.O.N. has multiple tutorials for various firmwares. The current version I'm using is from his tutorial 4 days ago and that's running on Atmosphere 0.85/Switch FW 7.0.1

Ah. Since every firmware is exploitable and I dont care to much about coldboot, I shouldnt care much about burning fuses. Unless theres something else I'm missing.

Btw thank you so much for the clarity.

Hi there.

I'm currently running SX OS 2.0.1 on a unit that is on 4.1 on SysNAND and 6.1 on EmuNAND.

I want to update, can I simply replace the boot.dat with the latest version of SX OS, and update EmuNAND using ChoiDuJourNX and the 7.0.1 OFW file?

Do I need to do anything on my SysNAND, or can I simply leave it untouched on 4.1?

You don’t need to change anything on SysNAND. Just replace the boot file and update EmuNAND with ChoiDujourNX.
