So TX pretty much got hold of the tsec_root_key and reused atmosphere exosphere to boot up as it was suspected

I love that their excuse for the delay was the extra time needed to get their unique features working on 7.x, whereas in reality they didn't even bother testing USB loading on 7.x

lol... it's no more a warez site than this one. This site links directly to homebrew that GIVES you all the keys in plain text, except for the magical one needed to encrypt sept. Don't see you crying about that. This site also has all the patches needed for pirating using Atmosphere. There aren't any links to games and such that I'm aware of on the TX site. I assume you're talking about kezplez/Lockpick.

There's an immense difference between distributing keys and distributing a program that dumps them from a user's console.

Right illegal numbers under DMCA anti circumvention, not because they are copyrighted.

The seeds in sept would also be covered https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/At.../sept/sept-secondary/src/key_derivation.c#L25

Also the anti circumvention signature patches for atmosphere which are hosted here & Kosmos/REINX which are linked here.

So it's kinda hard to infer what the rules are, unless it's TX is bad & everything else is good.

Dumped from your own console, it'd be perfectly legal. Distributing them on the internet, not so much. Funny how the law works on that end, isn't it.

(That said, even there there's a minor case of hypocricy as there are two homebrew that do hardcode console keys that is linked here, but that's kinda off-topic to this thread plus I don't think anyone has written anything publicly about that yet.)

So, appearently TX just stored the 7.x tsec_root_key as plaintext inside the patcher binary.

kind of my point. This site has the patches to pirate on Atmosphere, and any other CFW. That's the only purpose of those patches as you can run all the homebrew you want without them. You can't cry about TX being for piracy and think gbatemp has the high ground.

Anything that helps you decrypt copyrighted material without permission does break the law.

I've taken up the question about SX and the keys to the higher ups, it's beyond my "authority" to decide this.

That's not the point.

has nothing to do with warez and illegal stuff. You can call it a coincidence, that it can be used for that.
For example, sigpatches are mainly used to install custom apps (which however also means games with fake tickets).
