Hi, I recently got a 2ds alongside my 3ds and it seems like it came with a sky3ds+
there was a bunch of games installed on it that I've deleted since I'm the kind of anti piracy guy, but in this case I wonder what I can do with it, would it for instance help me homebrew wise to run homebrews without hacking my console, this kind of stuff ?

directly. no.
indirectly yes, but it requires using a game that can be hacked. (cubic ninja, oot)
I see, that's a shame

I feel like stuff like R4 had interest because it allowed people to run homebrew etc

but sky3ds+ seems to have been made especially only to screw game developpers, that's not something I'm that happy about

It couldn't load homebrew (3ds) in the first place. As the 3ds went through a verification process so it checked every game. And homebrew wouldn't pass through. On the r4, the ds didn't check the game at all. On dsi it did check, but that was defeated by creating a cart that used a game from the whitelist. (same for 3ds on that) on 3ds it's more robust.

couldn't it fake the verification process by faking it as a legit game ?
No, it couldn't fake a game cart. As if I recall correctly, something akin to a rsa check was applied to every 3ds game. (late ds games, like pokemon black and white, and white 2 used rsa checks as well)

hmm I guess...

well in this case I don't really know what I could do with it since it's making it kinda useless

So that's why it could only load retail 3ds games. As their rsa signature was left int acted as a full dump.

You could use it to hack your 3ds. Since it is a indirect homebrew entry, making it possible to skip downloading steeldiver sub wars.

It can play unmodified legal backups of your original physical 3DS games, of course (in fact the Sky team makes one of the few USB 3DS game dumpers)

Of course, since it can imitate any unmodified physical game, you can run an exploitable game (for example Cubic Ninja) and exploit it; but today (as well as for most of the 3DS scene) you can do more and better with a proper CFW
(and if you sell your Sky then buy an ntrboot flashcard or a DSiware game for use with the current CFW installation methods, you will probably end up with a net profit)

The Sky (and the Stargate) already do "fake a legit game": they do so that accurately that the executable cannot be replaced - that's the way 3DS security is (on non-CFW consoles) :)
