I'm totally lost guys...

All i want is just to update my hacked Switch in 5.2 to 6.2 and create a SDEmuNand so i can have a clean Sysnand to play online with my legitimate games.

I have a backup of my 5.2 clean Nand but i want to know the perfect process in order to not mess everything up ! If someone can help me doing this right it'll be very helpful. Note : I use SX OS

To me, i see this as :

1. Restore my 5.2 clean Nand on my hacked Switch
(Question here : What will happen after the restore ? Does the switch reboot in OFW as normal or what ?)

2. Update to 6.2 thourgh official process
(Should i or should i use ChoixdujourNX ?)

3. Do a full clean backup of my brand new 6.2 Switch NAND

4. Setup SDemunand

5. Use SDEmunand to put backups, .nsp/.xci and play offline and use SysNand to play online with legitimate games

Does it sound good to do it as follows ?

  1. This will depend if you backed up your NAND after enabling AutoRCM or not. Since AutoRCM modifies your boot1, if boot1 was backed up after installing AutoRCM, your boot1 dump will have AutoRCM pre-installed. If you didn't enable AutoRCM before dumping your boot1 or you just didn't enable it all, then your Switch won't have AutoRCM when you restore the NAND
  2. If you want to be as safe as possible, you would update online which would also irreversibly burn fuses rendering yourself unable to downgrade in the event a future exploit such as a hypothetical untethered coldboot comes out meaning you may be stuck using a jig and USB cable/dongle to load CFW for a very long time. If you want to preserve your fuses but update as safely as possible, you can follow this guide. Basically you reboot back into RCM after the console is finished installing the update by holding volume + and leaving the jig in the console
  3. This will depend if you burn fuses or not when you update. If you do burn fuses, its highly recommended to make a new NAND backup that will match the new fuse count as well as delete the old one afterwards. If you don't, then its only an extra precaution that will require to keep track of the new and old NAND dumps.
  4. Be aware that there are two types of SD EmuNAND. There is one that installs it as a single file that you can freely move from but can be detected by Nintendo, theoretically (if they scan SD cards). There is another that formats part of your SD card so that space can be used for storing the EmuNAND. This one is completely undetectable by Nintendo but cannot be moved without a specialized tool that can extract and inject it into other SD cards

I have question regarding installing NSP:
Is there any other way then to use tinfoil? Because it leaves so much empty space if you big files to install.

Kind regards

If you're referring to installing them, there's no other way to use .NSP files like that. If you don't want to install backups, your only other option is mounting .XCI files which can only be found in SX OS currently.

If you want alternatives to installing .NSP files, there is DevMenu, Rommenu, Goldleaf, and the other tinfoil that was formerly known as DZ.

So i finally got around to playing around to playing around with Switch Homebrew.

I've only really backed up my NAND.

I've been reading stuff all night, but I'm getting some conflicting info.

So from what I can tell going on online at all is risky, and the only way to go online is to restore firmware backup every time? Even with no piracy? Is just booting into CFW messing around with homebrew and then booting back to OFW gonna get me banned?

we don't know what exactly triggers banning, but yes that is a safe assumption. For now the best ways are to restore backup before going, yes.

Hello everyone, I’m new here and I would have some questions or rather i just want to get sure.

I got myself a 1 year old switch with firmware 6.0.1 on it. At the moment the switch is in flight mode and i´m thinking about going for a cfw (i don´t need to go online atm anyway). Therefore i just wanted to follow a guide which i found somewhere here (guide sdsetup) to install atmosphere by using Hekate. Any other recommendations here? Is it better when i start with this guide "Backup/Restore your Nand + Get your biskeys+tseckeys+keys.txt Guide" or is the process the same?

I haven´t inserted a sd card yet but i want to store the backup on a exfat formated sd card… i read something about a exfat driver, so do i need to do something before i can do the backup?
For the normal use i want to use an other sd card which is in fat32 format.

Shall i update afterwards to 6.2 with ChoiDujourNX to avoid burning my fuses or is there no need to stay on 6.0.1 and should i update before i do anything?

Can i use the sleep mode without a problem so i don´t have to inject the payload evertime? I read that (just in some versions) that there can be a problem?

Did i miss an important thing?

I already read a lot here but it´s so much info that i got a little bit confused and i just don´t want to do a mistake at the beginning (:

Thank you for your answers

Start with the "Backup/Restore your Nand + Get your biskeys+tseckeys+keys.txt Guide" you can do your backup on an exfat card, as hekate doesn't care about exfat or fat32

Then you can boot CFW either using atmosphere with the sd setup guide or reinx with the reinx.guide

You can choi upto 6.2, update first only if you want to. sleep mode is fixed now for mismatched fuse count. This doesn't matter if you update

Nope, the only important thing is doing a backup first

Absolutely, if you don't have them and you lost your backup or something, they are the only way to rebuild your nand if your brick
are these keys you talking about?

Hey everyone. I'm new to Switch Hacking and got it all to work so far and everything went just fine.

But now i fucked it up somehow. I wanted to update on 6.2.0 and did it through the official way via the update option while in atmosphere 0.8.2. It worked but somehow i can't start the games anymore. In settings It says 6.2.0 and ATS 0.8.2 and I can start the hbmenu and install .nsp and .xci but when i try to start the game it says that an update for this software is needed and i can either start the game or update it. But nothing works. I tried updating the game and i tried reinstalling it. Everytime i get an error saying "Unable to start software. Return to the HOME menu and try again."

Does someone have a fix for that?

I autostart in RCM, and directly start with the Web Fusée Launcher via fusee-primary.bin as I'am on Mac. Starting with hekate_ctaer_4.6.bin works as well. SD is on exFAT which hasn't been a problem so far. As I said I could start all the games when I was on 6.0.

Please help me.
