As
Vuul said, I'm in the same boat, I don't bother with eFuses anymore, I'm not fond of enabling AutoRCM, there is no evidence that AutoRCM may set red flags for console bans but I just want to avoid anything at all costs. Not a big deal for some/most but for me, I don't want to use AutoRCM, I just use the RCM JIG instead.
This is what I did:
My original FW was on 6.0.1.
Once you have received your SX Pro, go through and prep your SD CARD with the required files, if you want your OFW to be clean, opt to do the offline SXOS license activation.
This involves uploading the license file to the TX activation site and you will get a activated license in return. Now keep this file in a safe place, have multiple copies, email it to yourself.
Make sure you
DON'T boot into CFW!
01.
Factory Reset my Switch that was currently on 6.0.1, after the reset, the Switch powers down.
02. Boot into
SX OS Boot Menu, perform a
NAND backup. Takes over an hour to complete, so make sure your switch is charging (Not through the dock!)
03. Once NAND backup as been completed, make a backup of the NAND files from the SD CARD to my PC, delete the NAND files on the SD CARD.
04. Boot into
OFW and complete the Switch setup.
05. Updated my Switch to 6.2.0 through the system settings.
06. Once update has been completed, I restarted the Switch, can't remember if this was automatic or I manually rebooted the Switch.
07.
Factory Reset my Switch which is now on 6.2.0, after the reset, the Switch powers down.
07. Boot into
SX OS Boot Menu, perform another NAND backup, you can never have enough NAND backups
08. Once NAND backup as been completed, make a backup of the NAND files from the SD CARD to my PC, delete the NAND files on the SD CARD.
09. Boot info
SX OS Boot Menu, create an
EmuNAND as a
Hidden Partition on your SD CARD.
10. Once completed, boot into your
EmuNAND, complete the profile setup.
11. Once on the Switch main menu, try accessing the
Album icon, this should take you to the
SX OX menu, if it does, this means you are in
EmuNAND.
12. Go to the
System Settings and change the
Themes to
Basic Dark.
13. Turn
Flight Mode ON, Turn
Controller Connection (Bluetooth) On and
NFC On.
14.
EmuNAND is now
OFFLINE.
15. Finally, boot into
OFW and complete the setup.
As previously stated:
OFW: Play legit game carts, access eShop, download free games, demos, etc.. Sign up to Online membership and play online games.
EmuNAND: This is completely OFFLINE, do all your dirty stuff here, play XCI's, install NSP's, game udpates, etc... go nuts
Reason why I choose to use
Basic Dark as the
Themes is because, this will let me know I'm in EmuNAND, this is very handy, so if the Themes is Basic White, then I know I'm in OFW.
Notes:
After you do a factory reset the system should shut down, this is when you boot into SXOS boot menu boy holding
VOL+ and
Press and
HOLD the
POWER button for a second and then let go while
STILL holding the
VOL+ button. You may not get it the first time, if you don't and it boots into the OFW Switch setup screen, simply
HOLD DOWN the
POWER button to shutdown and try again.
If you format your SD CARD after EmuNAND has been created, make sure you have the
boot.dat file and the
license.dat on the root of the SD CARD or else you get a nice error message.
The only reason you need to do this is if you want to change from FAT32 to exFAT or vice versa, you need a 3rd party app to format your SD CARD to FAT32 and make sure it's
32k Cluster.
Make sure the SX Dongle is charged!
FAT32 or exFAT?
This is up to you, I'm using
exFAT as this doesn't have the 4GB file size limitation, as there will be XCI files larger than 4GB, same goes for NSP's. If your FAT32, then you have to split the files under 4GB, there is few apps available to do this, same goes for NSP files.
I have read that exFAT causes card corruption, mainly for those that use Homebrew apps, I've used XCI and NSP installs and (Touch Wood) I haven't had any issues. Since I'm using Hidden Partition as EmuNAND, if the card does get corrupted, I can simply reformat the SD CARD, this will not delete the Hidden Partition, only thing I loose is the save files and all the NSP and game updates, but I can always re install them.
However, if you were to use EmuNAND as a file, if your SD CARD is corrupted, then you will loose EmuNAND and will have to re create it again.
My main SD CARD is a 400GB card as exFAT, I have another 64GB SD CARD as FAT32, this as EmuNAND as Hidden Partition also and this card I use for Homebrew stuff (Emulaters, etc...)
If a new FW drops, then it's just a matter of waiting to see if SX supports it if not, just wait until it does, then just update your OFW the normal way and then update EmuNAND using ChoiDujourNX making sure you DISABLE AutoRCM in the options before you update.
I may have miss something but I have proof read above and it's pretty accurate as to what I did with my Switch.
Hope this helps.
