Well I've decided to upload my games to the cloud since I only have a 32 gb card so I can free up space if needed.

So I make a cia of frogger, and in my data management, it shows I have an update in the update section, but when going through all my installed titles in godmode9 it doesn't show the update. It is normally a game on a cartridge, but I don't know if that means anything. If I make a cia file, will the update be included in the cia?

Also I have vvvvvv and I updated it also, it doesn't show the update in godmode9 or in data management, will the update be included in the cia then?

Godmode9 doesn't show updated titles the way you think it does. Use FBI to check if you have a legit update installed. If so, you have to dump it separate from the game as it's installed as a separate title. To do that in Godmode9.

  1. Select [A:] SYSNAND SD
  2. Select title > 00040000 if you are dumping a full title or 0004000e for an update or 0004008c for DLC > the last 8 digits of the TitleID (tidlow) > content > the .tmd in the folder
  3. Select TMD file options... > Build CIA (standard)
  4. The CIA will be in /gm9out/titleid.cia

Don't understand lol, but godmode9 shows all the other updates
How so? Godmode9 doesn't have an installed title list by game title. It only lists them through title ID, of which I made an explanation of above. FBI on the other hand does show installed titles by games titles AND updates. Are we talking about the same program?

Oh okay, I def wasn't aware of that feature, But using it the other way can confirm if there is either way. So check both that and the directory I mentioned. If it's there you can dump it with my instructions, if it's not. Then I don't think the game actually has an update. Did you make the dump from a cartridge or an installed game? Some cartridges come with pre-installed updates, some don't. Either way, I'd check both places.

If it's a dumped .CIA it's pirated as well. If you ever visit the eshop and attempt to download an update that way, it will say there is an update when really it's a full re-installation of the game because the CDN recognizes your fake ticket.
