Ok, ive apparently chosen the worst time to hack my switch. I've already Hardmodded my right joycon with some solder, and can get into RCM no problem. However, I'm on 6.2.0, and getting keys and a proper NAND dump is apparently the most impossible things to do now in order to downgrade to 6.1.0 (I dont mind not having sleep mode). From what I've gathered, the keys are console-specific and the current builds of software don't support getting the correct keys in order to properly run Atmosphere.

So currently, is it impossible to downgrade from 6.2.0 if you don't have a properly populated keys file?

Atmosphere works for 6.2 now. Probably a couple days for ReiNX/SX to support it now.

Can someone help me out through the steps of fresh installing cfw on 6.2? All the guides haven't updated yet, so I am wondering if anything changed.

Theres a manual downgrade guide i found.
It more or less acts as a manual temporary downgrade to anything less than 6.2.0. You gotta give up sleep mode for this method to work though, and cant get it back without an upgrade

However, my question remains unanswered. I currently have a 'Keys' file but idk if its fully populated or not.
I've got:
secure_boot_key
tsec_key
device_key
and bis_key_00 through 03

I've been seeing things about master keys and stuff and im unsure if im able to properly downgrade or not.

Is there a way to *install* NSPs to a microSD using only a PC (like pulling console keys from the Switch) or does the Switch itself have to be part of the authentication/install process?

Hi,

My switch is currently on 4.1.0. I'm currently using hekate+atmosphere (some bastardization of sdsetup), with AutoRCM. I own a physical copy of Super Mario Party, which requires 5.1.0, and I want to take stock of my options for playing it.

As I understand it, there is currently no way to bypass the firmware requirement directly (i.e. to play the game cart on a lower firmware). Am I correct? Other than that, I believe I could:

1. Use the game cart to update to 5.1.0 and burn my fuses
2. Use the newly released atmosphere 0.8.0 (without hekate), and update to 5.1.0, which should keep autoRCM installed, thereby not burning my fuses.
3. Obtain the 5.1.0 update, and use ChoiDuJour or ChoiDuJourNX to update to 5.1.0 and keep autoRCM installed
4. Dump the cart to XCI, convert to NSP, install it with Tinfoil to bypass the requirement, and risk a ban if I ever somehow end up online.

Am I correct in thinking that's all the options I have? I also have a few questions:

1. Do all games that require a particular firmware contain that firmware update? Or is there some chance that Super Mario Party requires, but does not contain, the update?
2. Is there any real reason to stay on 4.1 (whether it's telemetry, exploit potential, or something else), or is 5.1 functionally identical?
3. Has anyone been confirmed to be banned when *just* using atmosphere, without homebrew, layeredfs, nsps, or anything else? How about just non-NSP homebrew?

good evening, at least one other family member is getting a switch this christmas and they will be getting games our kids can play together.

whats the easiest way for us to play mario kart on LAN per se?

my switch is on cfw 6.1 - I would prefer to figure out how to setup a lan server @ my house and his so we could both enable it to play with other people even when ever necessary I was reading to its capable. if anyone has a good link or explanation of what program i need to run to do this and how they can do it with a stock NSW or if its not possible then please also tell me. thanks!

I'll let more experienced people answer your other questions but for the question about game carts systems like this almost always include the update in whatever physical media it's distributed on so people who buy it and don't have good (or any) internet connections aren't screwed. I believe GCDumpTool will allow you to rip the update straight from the card but tbh I just found a google drive folder with all of them in it when I needed to update to 5.1.0 (I'd link it but I want to make sure that's allowed here)

Couldn't find an answer on the internetz so I have to ask here. Would using an amiibo from a banned cfw switch affect any clean non-cfw switches?

Hey all. I am new to the switch scene but not new to modding. I currently have a launch day switch on 3.0.2 and I am interested in seeing what I can do with this. However here is my little dilemma. My son is desperately wanting smash bros for his B-day and a switch for Christmas (both fall in the same month lol). I have already bought his christmas but I will get him one around tax time as an early graduation present.

I know my switch is currently able to be modded but I would like him to be able to play the game on mine till he gets his switch. I wont be taking it online. I do know it will update my console to 5.xxx from the game cart. Will this kill my ability to run CFW? Will I need to do additional steps? Im no stranger to opening consoles and doing soldering however I am a bit slow on the software side but after reading a tutorial and following them I am good after. Whats my options here?

Can anyone help me with my black screen problem? I can't find any answers anywhere on the internet. I'm worried I'm the only one who has ever had this issue.

I've got a quick question.

Back in the Wii Hacking scene I'm sure that booting into CFW then updating got you to the latest update while Maintaining Trucha bug exploits.

What's that like on the switch? Are we that advanced yet or not? For example if using CFW that's showing in the system settings, would updating from there while in CFW keep the exploits?

Or are we still at a point where its impossible to update to 6.2.0 regardless of being in CFW or OFW? I'm guessing it's still this at the moment

Thanks to anyone that can clear that up for me !

So currently using exfat. But I read it can corrupt easily?
If so is it enough to like copy the whole SD card to pc. After that format the SD card to fat32 and after that copy everything back?
Will this work?

Also what are the methods after that to install .NSP files? Because at the moment I copy them to the sd card and install trough tinfoil.

I read something doing it trough your network. But won't that be slow as hell??? I remember doing this back in the days on the PS3 and it was slow...

Also is it true you need to use fat32 if you want to attempt homebrew/emulators?

This was asked earlier but I didn't see anyone answer.
I'm on 5.1 (with all my efuses and original nand backups) if I upgrade to 6.1 using ChoiDujourNX, do I have to reinstall my games? Same question but with 6.2 (once the firmware is dumped for ChoiDujourNX?
If I do need to reinstall the games, do you simply run the install again? Remove the game, then run the install? Do you need to save you saves before reinstalling?

Yes that‘s possible via the Homebrew Choidujournx. You only need the Firmware Files which you can find via Google (can‘t post link here because the Firmware is Copyright Material).
I used this method to update from 6.0.1 to 6.1

Only thing you need is that you already installed the exFAT Update because without that you need a FAT32 formatted card. This can be a small SD, the Update is only about 300-400MB big.

Ηι! i have a new switch with ofw 4.1 and i buy xecuter sx os
whitch is better way cfw to stay 4.1 and install emunand(updated emunand to 6.1)
or your way to update ofw 6.1 with Homebrew Choidujournx and after install sx os cfw?
thank you!

No you do not need to reinstall your games. But you do need to reinstall autoRCM if I remember correctly. So be carfeull that after your update you don't accidently boot into OFW instead of recovery mode. Get that Jig in there after the update trough ChoiDujourNX. And reinstall autoRCM.

There is no EMUNAND, this isn't a 3DS.

That’s wrong there is an emuNAND but it only works with SXOS!

@postfire: That‘s up to you but i would keep the sysNAND at the current version and only update the emuNAND. For emuNAND you can use every Version except 2.3 atm.

I have a doubt about emunand.
When I created my emunand I had a lot of original games installed inside of my system memory (that I bought from Eshop or updates of physical games). Now that the emunand is created, all those games and updates are listed in there when I go to settings to check my installed games.
So my doubt is: Can I delete all those games from emunand and they'll be kept on my OFW version? The games that I own, I intend to play only on my OFW and if those copies on my Emunand are just that (copies) I'm wasting space by keeping them there.
Thanks!
