For some reason It booted homebrew launcher the fourth time :) So im continueing :)
Good. I was just about to send you to the Frogminer thread. If you have further problems specific to the Frogminer process this is (in my opinion) the best place to ask. Not all exploits have 100% success rate. So it may take a few tries.
Before Frogminer was included in the guide, a tutorial was already on this two pages. I have not yet compared them to the new tutorial in Plailect's well known guide.

ntrboot is an exploit that works on any 3DS model on any firmware. You can easily install cfw with it. See the guide.
If the switch is set to ntrboot, you can install B9S/Luma.
If the switch is set to DS-mode you can play DS (not 3DS) games with it.

The flashcard itself does not support 3DS games, but with cfw, you can install 3DS games right on the (micro-)SD of your console.
Flashcards for 3DS games are expensive and not worth the money, because they offer less than free custom firmware.

So if i CFW my 2DS XL [New] i can put 3ds games on it [ on the micro SD that was standard in the 2ds XL] and put DS games on my R4 card? And i CFW it to do a NTRboot? if i understand you guys correctly.

And can i just put a bigger micro sd card in it, by copying the files of the Sd card thats in now, to a bigger one? I now have the standard factory 4 GB

ntrboot is used only once: to install B9S and Luma (The cfw). After you finished the guide you can install 3DS games with FBI. When cfw is installed you do not need the flashcard anymore (for 3DS games).
Copying all files to a larger SD is no problem; with 4GB you can't install many games. Keep in mind that cards bigger than 32GB come with the exFAT filesystem. 64GB or even bigger cards must be reformatted with FAT32 to use them in a 2/3DS. On Windows use Guiformat.
Test a new SD-card with h2testw.

Ok. I managed to do everything in the guide to install cfw. Now I want to upgrade to my 64gb sd card (Samsung EVO MicroSDXC). I have formated it to fat32 in guiformat but I get this message when I torn on the 2ds with the card in "Cannot display the software on the microSD card. The microSD card could not be accessed".

I have bought the New 2DS XL Mario Kart 7 btw, will this also still work when i copy paste my 4GB SD data to a 32 GB?

Finally solved the sd-card issue by cloning the old memory card ta the new one :)

Another question: Is it safe to update games via the 2ds console? Or do I have to download an update and then install it manually?

its safe but keep in mind the games region must match the eshop region or else the game wont actually apply the update and may refuse to download if the game was never released in your region (and presumably flag you on nintendos list for the next banwave . . . if ever that happens) or you can find the appropriate update in .cia format and install that

Ok wat region of 3ds will play USA rf ?

USA and any country in the American continent I think?

Do not do Soundhax as that method is outdated and causes problems; use the all versions methods instead. Edit: Unless you don't have money to buy a compatible Flashcard.

nope it was made from a .3ds file that had an american base and was made region free but as a cia region free does not matter as luma patches that by default meaning any region 3ds can install that file as long as it has cfw
edit: its also still a usa game so needs usa updates and/or dlc's

only consoles 3.0-8.1 sometimes have complications (also menuhax) in my experience but even with the small chance of it not working it is still simpler than frogminer and cheaper than a ntrboot flashcard

Wormdood maybe you know it? When i copy my files from my standard 4GB 2ds XL micro SD to a 32 GB micro SD, will this work. I have the Mario Kart 7 edition, maybe i thought this might not work or mario kart 7 gets corrupt?

You can copy the whole “Nintendo 3DS” folder to a bigger SD (it is in the instruction booklet as well and has nothing to do with hacking or not hacking the system). However, some limitations:
  • You can’t join two “Nintendo 3DS” folders. If you have some games on card “A” and some other games on card “B”, you can’t copy everything to card “C”.
  • Some games use anti-cheat/anti-save backup (e.g. Pokémon). If you have a Pokémon save on card “A”, copy everything to card “B” and continue playing Pokémon with card “B”, you can’t use the save on card “A” anymore. Virtual Console Pokémon games might complain about corrupted save and delete it. Use JKSM and/or Checkpoint to backup these saves. You should backup your saves regularly (has nothing to do with changing the SD). Mario Kart 7 is no such game and makes no problems.
  • You must copy the complete “Nintendo 3DS” folder with everything in it and not only some parts.

Good evening! I've installed Rhythm Heaven Megamix and it always goes to the screen where it says "An exception occured". Most posts I searched, as I've understand it, are using EUR versions of the game and the one I downloaded was a US one that was cryptofixed. I'm using a US 3DS and it is in CFW. What should I do to be able to play the game?

USA RF is NOT a legit region/.CIA it is a USA region .CIA SPOOFED as region free to work on all consoles. RF dump edits are moot since Luma itself is a region free CFW, in tandem with locale emulation. There is no such thing as a USA RF title without, dumping a USA cartridge/.CIA and editing it. That said, if a game is TRULY region free, it won't have a region attached. i.e ALL Pokemon games are region free, you can buy a cart in EUR and play it on a US 3DS no problem as they are exactly the same. Other games, most of them actually require a specific region and why you see the same title 2/3 times in eshop for US, EUR and JP (unless USA/EUR use the same version) usually. Again, if you notice Pokemon SUMO for example there is only one download page for EVERY region, they all get the same game.

Not to mention most edited RF .CIAs are incomplete. They tend to remove "unnecessary features" like Luigis Mansion for example. A lot of people using the RF cia found out it removed local co-op as well as the instruction manual.

Sorry the point I was making is don't use RF dumps if there is one available for your actual region, it's pointless. And if you want to play a game FROM another region, it will work find with Luma but may or may not require local emulation.

Luma is region free, use the EUR version instead. Or find a "standard" .CIA dump to install. Cryptofixing is outdated as encrypted .CIAs can be installed directly. The reason for that prior was to remove the encryption fro ease of access on lower firmwares. Otherwise you'd be prompted to redownload the full game through eShop, after installation. So you'd get it free but have to install it twice unless you used a cryptofixed version. That hasn't been true for a good while now. At least since 2016 cryptofixed .CIAs are no longer a thing.

No problem. That is the purpose of this thread: Asking questions and get answers. I hope you got that right, but I will explain it once more:
  • Ntrboot with a flashcard is one of the many ways to install cfw. Each way will lead to the same: B9S and Luma.
  • The modification is done to the internal NAND of your console. After the modification the flashcard is not needed anymore. You use your flashcard once in Ntrboot mode. When successfully done (follow the guide), cfw will automatically start at each boot.
  • You get full control over your 3DS. You can backup your cartridges and install 3DS games to your SD-card (in the console). You also can run any homebrew app you like (e.g. emulators for old systems).
  • The "security system" preventing the start of non-signed software is disabled.
  • Online functions are not affected and continue to work. There is a little chance to get banned. But if you do not do stupid things like cheating in online games, playing illegal copies before official release of games or set your favorite app to a homebrew, nothing bad should happen. Also carefully read the big read box of the get-started page. Local wireless play is in now way affected.
  • If you install any backups, you will have fake tickets on your NAND. Never try to re-download games you did not pay for in the E-shop (You must have bought them in the E-shop. If you install your own cartridges, these titles are illegitimate copies for Nintendo).
  • The flashcard is very useful for playing DS(not 3DS games) as these cannot be installed to the SD on the console like the 3DS games. Your flashcard is pretty much the best you can get. It is compatible with nearly 100% of the DS library. The internal switch in the R4 must be - of course - set to DS-mode again.
  • However it is possible to use DS games without the flashcard with TwiLight Menu ++. It has become amazingly good lately, but still has some problems. Not all games work and later games with anti-piracy "features" require patches. Many of these can be found here.
  • If you do not use the flashcard (while playing 3DS games or using homebrew software) better remove it. Flashcards drain the battery even if not in use. The significantly use more power than normal cartridges. A normal cartridge uses almost no power and can be left inside to protect the slot from dust.
