Boot into maintenance mode by holding volume + and - when turning on the console or if you have AutoRCM, right as you send a payload that boots CFW/OFW. This will automatically clear the pending system update.

Never done before, so to be clear > boot in maint mode and then just shut off console again? thanks for the quick reply as always :)

As for your other 2 questions

  1. Default is sufficient. If there is no Default option or the Default setting does not work, its 32 for FAT32 (and 128 for exFAT)
  2. All games, updates, and DLC installed to the SD card are stored in the Nintendo folder

Thanks! I appreciate your help greatly!

Have 2 OFW Switches on 6.1 and a 4.1/5.1 CFW Switch. Can you see any benefit to running a backup of the 2 OFW Switches now, just in case I need to run CFW on them at some point in the future, such as my CFW Switch dies? I assume there is no ban risk just running a backup and never launching CFW?

Edit: oops I meant backing up the OFW Switches, not the CFW.

I check they sellers page hopefully they all legit .

Is sx like the ds flash cart and does not change anything in my system when I don't boot it? Or does it make some changes like a soft mod?
I doubt TX would list a reseller who wasn't legitimate on their own site.

As for SX OS, much like all of the other CFW, they are loaded only via a temporary exploit meaning if you don't use the exploit, you don't boot up CFW. However this does not mean its as if your console wasn't hacked as there are traces of CFW that persist after the console is shut down and can be sent to Nintendo to flag you for a ban.

Speaking of other CFW, why not use something like Atmosphere or ReiNX? They are free and can accomplish majority of the same things as SX OS, as well as some exclusive features such as NAND backup verification and support for the patched YouTube .NSP

Just load Hekate and dump boot0/boot1 as well as eMMC RAW GPP. The Hekate thread has further instructions on how the dump process is carried out.

I’m on fw 4.0.1 is that the one with the chance of a better bootup on further?

Wat do I do if I want to play a game that needs fw 5 is there a workaround on sx?

There is no workaround. Firmware spoofing is virtually impossible. The only thing you can do is update your firmware without burning fuses with the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX. Fuses primarily prevent downgrading so if they are not burnt, you preserve a path for lower firmwares in case a new exploit is revealed for them.

What kind Of places does xci formats come from?
Also how does game updates and DLC work for them?

The name of the game will tell you if its a scene dump (meaning it was provided by a group of hackers who normally provide warez) or if it was some third-party. Scene dumps have the name of the group attached to the dump. .XCI files are 1:1 copies of retail Switch cartridges; anyone can provide these but typically scene groups provide dumps of these. Updates/DLC come in .NSP format and are either installed to the SD card or NAND, just like a game. When a game, regardless if its .NSP or .XCI format, has updates/DLC installed, the Switch will launch them along with the game. Or if you don't want to resort to any .NSP files for your .XCI games, you can pack all of the updates/DLC with this tool.

I have bought a used switch which comes modded with SX OS. The previous owner didn't provide original NAND backup. I appreciate your help with the below questions:
1. Is there anyway to get the clean backup of NAND now without utilizing SX OS NAND backup?
2. How can I upgrade the OFW safely from 4.x to 6.x?
3. I don't want to use EMUNAND as I plan to play online. Is it safe to delete the EMUNAND?
Thanks in advance.

  1. Your best bet is to perform a factory reset but that doesn't remove all traces of CFW/homebrew
  2. You can use the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX but under any circumstances do not update to firmware 6.2, the latest firmware, as it breaks all CFW
  3. Yes you can remove it

Thx Draxzelex.

What are the steps to perform factory reset?
On another note, since I'm on OFW 4.x when I try to download Fortnite using eshop, it keeps prompting me to upgrade the firmware. If I upgrade to 6.1 e.g., would that make that prompt go and let me download the game? Also is it possible to get Fortnite without installing it from eshop?
