Hacking What do I actually need to backup with NAND

I've been making nand backups for every firmware revision but have always been doing raw dumps, is that actually necessary to save my ass in an emergency.

I'm in 6.1.0 now, and I've just created a backup of eMMC BOOT0/1 and eMMC SYS.

If I have to do a raw dump again I will, but curious if the above is enough to save me in an emergency I'm using hekate 4.2 btw

Boot0/1 and sys should be all you need. But wait for someone who is sure about this.

Boot0/1 and Sys should be enough, yes. Leaves you without your user partition, thus you will lose all installed software and savegames when restoring a bricked unit.
To be really on the safe side, I'd always do a raw backup.

on sx os it says it can backup nand

i know i should dump my nand without AutoRCM installed
if i launch sx os menu i click uninstall AutoRCM do i need to restart my switch then dump my nand or can i dump it as soon as i uninstall AutoRCM without powering off my switch then back on

one raw dump + boot0/1 is enough. dumping on every firmware is overkill because none of the important console specific info changes during updates.

in theory you only need boot0/1 and prodinfo/f to restore a bricked console, everything else can be recreated or donated from another persons dump.

raw dump is everything, you can extract everything out of it
If unsure, just do a raw dump every now and then. It's not a big deal, just takes some time.

it actually depends on what you are using to dump it. iirc you need to do both. for sure reinx requires you to dump them separately using the toolkit.
