Using a 4GB Toshiba MicroSD in two flash drives. MSD is formatted to FAT32. I have files and directories on that drive and LaunchELF on FreeMcBoot does not see anything on it when clearly there is. What do I need to do now?

This may sound stupid but dont plug in your MSD yet upon launching LaunchELF. Once you're on launchelf, plug in your 4gb MSD.

No. You can change drives. You just need to back out to the main directory selection and change the drive there. Then open the mass0:/. At least that’s how it is with the ulaunchelf version I have. It’s wlaunchelf.

Mine is the good ol' ulaunchelf. Whenever i plug in my usb stick and launch it, it will sometimes not read it or its there but just empty (mass0). So i unplug it, wait 3-5 seconds then plug it back in. Presto, its there.

Btw, is wlaunchelf better?

Just try a different USB drive/microSD card. When I tried installing CFW on my PS3 through PS3Xploit it simply refused to work, even though I formatted the USB correctly and it was in the right port. So I tried a different USB drive and BOOM! It worked. Strangely enough that very same USB drive that refused to work on my PS3 actually works on my PS2.
