What's the best practice to avoid bans?
I've read some conflicting things so I'd just like to confirm:
- Going online with CIAs is safe.
- Use a custom header if going online with sky3ds.
- Having homebrew installed as CIA is not safe. Replace a system app with the homebrew instead. (also homebrew cias that dont connect online are safe as long as i run a real app before i connect the internet)
- Turning off show friends what you're playing/ streetpass doesn't matter, so leave them on.
(Any other important info regarding bans I've missed?)
- play games only after their release date
- also never cheat online
If the above is true, can I do one of the following?:
1. Replace a system app with the homebrew launcher (this needs to be done every time i want to use homebrew but its super simple) and go online with non-homebrew CIAs. also if ever i run a homebrew cia do it offline and run a real app before connecting online (to berelativelytotally safe)
2. Have an offline emunand for CIAs and homebrew CIAs, and sysnand for playing legit games online. (to be completely safe)(. . . this is kinda redundant (& a waste of 2 gigs) also note that if emunand gets banned sysnand gets banned and vice versa
no worries your good to go on all fronts all you need is a usa chargerJust bought a new 3DS XL Super Famicom UK-import on eBay, without first researching as much as I should have, and I was wondering if I'll have any issues modding it using the seedminer method listed on the 3ds.hacks.guide site? I live in the US and I wasn't sure if there's anything special I need to do.
Also, do I need a particular type of adapter or would any US N3DS-compatible charger work with it?
Thanks in advance for the information.

its possible to an extent . . . this is the projects page [DS(i)/3DS] TWiLight Menu++/DSiMenu++/SRLoader - DS(i) Menu replacementNice, thanks for the response!
One last thing I was wondering about -- Is it possible to play regular DS games using the current CFW or will I need to get a flashcart for that?
That's news to me...- Turning off show friends what you're playing/ streetpass doesn't matter, so leave them on.
Does cfw bypass the check on blue light sky3ds? My sister only has a 4gb sd card but I have a spare 32gb micro-sd and a unused sky3ds
@Fil o_O: grab the "template_tools.zip" from the topic you linked, you need it to do this;
If you want to play AP-check games on a Sky3DS+ blue button:
Note: This requires your 3DS to be running a custom firmware and it only works for AP type 0x03 games
Pokemon Sun and Moon don't work with this method, they use method 0x05, so use a CIA instead
Open your 3DS rom in a hex-editor, go to offset 0x01FE and change the '03' to '00', this changes the AP-check version.
then go to offset 0x0207 and change the '40' to '00'. (Not quite sure what this flag is for but it seems to be needed)
This hex-editing will BREAK the 3DS Rom Signature, you need custom firmware to bypass the Sigchecks to
be able to run the game. (An official firmware 3DS will either see a white icon or it won't show up at all)
After you've hex-edited the rom, use the template tools in the page you linked in your first post to make
the 'template/header' for your edited 3ds rom and write the rom using disk writer like you would normally do.
those both broadcast locally . . . now spotpass however broadcasts through wifiThat's news to me...
Your basically just putting the cfw files needed on the sd card. CFW itself installs into the guts of the 3ds system itself, not the sd card.Or just install cfw on the 32 gb card?
I used to know where to look for these answers, but can't find them at the moment.
My Old 3DS is physically broken and getting harder to keep repairing, and I found a cheap New 3DS that I might pick up. I'd like to keep both running but might have to System Transfer to the New one.
Anyway, the Old one has Boot9strap and Luma3DS with several modified, unofficial, and freeShop CIAs installed. I'm mainly wondering if there's any risk involved with transferring that stuff to an unmodified N3DS, be it bricking or losing certain apps or what-not. Would it be more safe somehow if the N3DS is modified first?
I also have a large collection of badges (legit, not custom) and I heard somewhere that badge collections can't be transferred. True/false?
only legit and purchased content will transferI'm mainly wondering if there's any risk involved with transferring that stuff to an unmodified N3DS, be it bricking or losing certain apps or what-not
safer ? . . . no, more convenient definitely as you will keep all your pirated/unofficial content intactWould it be more safe somehow if the N3DS is modified first?
i think you are confusing things here you can definitely move your badges (when you move the nnid associated with the account)I also have a large collection of badges (legit, not custom) and I heard somewhere that badge collections can't be transferred. True/false?
Mistook StreetPass for SpotPass. I'd like to completely disable StreetPass actually, if it saves battery. Except you can't AFAIK, so I'll have to settle with disabling each title.those both broadcast locally . . . now spotpass however broadcasts through wifi

Get its CIA. It's the exact same process for dumping and for installing. What's the best way to install eshop-only games like picross e? I'm on 11.8 with luma, everything working fine. THanks!
sure you can and no it wontCan I use my normal Nintendo ID with this system - will that give me the mii I originally created?
yes sirSuper Mario Maker is asking me to update. Is that safe?
