Hello I had a few questions about this 3ds hack..
1st can it be done on version 11.6 and second will I be able to play backup of my games on a microsd card instead of always switching the cartridge?

1) only if you already have a compatible DSiWare, otherwise you need to update to 11.8
2) yes with CFW you'll be able to dump your cartridges and install them to the home menu
Note though that there's now a free CFW method called frogminer. What I'd recommend you to do if you don't already have a compatible DSiWare installed is to update to 11.8, then follow this guide first and then this other one.
Also take a look at this before beginning.

Hello again im doing these steps but when i get to creating the payload.bin file from the homebrew launcher site for otherapps/robpin payload it will not let me choose 11.8, what do i do now if i cant get a a payload .bin for my system version after updating?

I've been trying to use the automated bruteforce method, but it always shows up with:

I've done system format already on my device, but no luck so far even with a new FC.
