Wasn't able to find a clear answer to this, thought I'd ask.

I have SX PRO 1.3 and several games. When launching, I get a prompt to update the title.

Being in Airplane Mode - what's the proper way to obtain/install title updates?

Been googling for 3 days now, and found very few references to installing updates.

2 options:
* devmenu and downloading the updates via PC
* entering ofw and update the games normally.

Both involve a risk of banning
Have seen devmenu installation tutorials and game installation tutorials - but not specifically updates. How do I use it for updates?

Install updates as nsp files through devmenu on sx os 1.3, you can find guides for this on this same forum.

This is the only completely offline method.

Can you please link to the relevant one please?

embrace the fact that by using TX OS you are at risk of ban....even if you do get a ban, you are still capable of updating games. Just take the Switch out of airplane mode and update the game. It's easier than hunting down the NSP or using CDNSP for the game update.

Wasn't aware that games are still updatable when banned. Good to know! I'd still love to be more informed of my options, especially the NSP method, before I take risks :)

I've been updating games by going ofw first then go back to sx os after finishing updating. Still not banned but the risk is always there though.

So the only thing you will lose is online multiplayer gaming and access to eShop, right?
I mean, I don’t need eShop if I can play all backups and multiplayer not interested anyway, cause it will soon cost money and is shit anyways compared to Xbox live. I mean you can’t even connect a headset to the switch. You have to use a stupid app.

How is the first option ban-risk?
If the games update in devmenu and the console never connects to internet that should be ban-proof.

Sure, if you never ever go online again, then I guess it could be considered safe.
That's what he meant by ban-risk. Some people have had their consoles banned by using devmenu.

If you never go online than don't care about banning at all. But dev menu can be detected, so it's a potential ban risk. Renember nintendo often rolled out ban waves around the release of pkmn(OK mostly connected to prerelease online play). So they maybe just collect data now

See when people say" You'l get banned" it just means you wont be able to play online. You can still access the E-Shop and game updates, been that way since the 3ds

3DS is different because we have double-bans.

Console ban from online functions. User ban from Nintendo ID and eShop. Most of the time, people were double banned. While there are methods to remove both bans, the user ban was never released because of some idiots squabbling over selling the unban method.

If you took a NAND backup before doing anything else, you should be able to offline install to your hearts content, then restore your orginal untouched NAND if you want to go online and play a legit game.

True as long as the console does not get banned through some stupid mistakes. (ie going online)
