I am just starting Chapter 4 of Ys VIII after 30 hours of gameplay! This game is so much FUN! After I am done with it, I will move on to either Octopath Traveler or Xeno 2. But I love the Style of Ys III. Very fast paced!
Now I didn't finish Octopath Traveler yet, but sometimes I feel bored from the game.
Don't get me wrong the game is great and it have fun battle system, but the idea that the characters stories are not linked to eachother make it feel kinda boring to me, I will have to play more and see.
In other hand xeno2 is a great game with deep battle system and amazing story and soundtracks and tons of contents.

I think I may try Xeno 2 after Ys VIII. I wonder if I will feel excited or disappointed cuz I will be comparing the two. I hear good and bad things about both games. But Ys VIII just feels like a true adventure! The story is great too.

The last Ys game I played was "Ys III: Wanderers from Ys" on the SNES. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Now, for the Switch, I am playing and taking my time with Ys VIII. I am 18 hours in and still on Chapter 2.

It's a very fast paced action/adventure/rpg that I can easily pick up and play portions at a time. I feel it borrows from the tv show LOST as there are some similarities, but I don't mind that. The fact that they introduce you to new techniques and game play elements as you play even hours into the game is mere genius. Keeps things fresh! I am having a blast playing it! We need more games like this for Switch.

The last game I was interested in playing long-term (over 100 hours) was BOTW. Aside from that, there hasn't been anything I noticed, until now. I wonder what else is out there.

Thanks for the share. I am going to give it a try later on.

And the best part about Xeno2 is that you don't need to grind at all.
Yes it start slow and you may become bored at the first few hours, but later you will be addictive to the story, ost and the battle system.
If you like the exploration and the adventure in Us VIII then you will be surprised by how big the world of Xeno2 is and the exploration it can offer.

I've never played a YS game before. They're all disconnected from one another right?

Nope. They're directly connected, some like Ys 2 take place immediately after the previous one, most star Adol (or various other translations, but same guy) as the main character. But connected as they are, it's not that important, gameplay is more important than the story, and you can pick up and play them in other orders.

Playing it on the Switch. Enjoying my time. Not too far into it, so I don't know what to expect from the performance side. However the combat system is excellent.

You’re going to love it. Just wait. So many things happen and new techniques and gameplay elements are introduced as you play... even in later levels! Keeps things fresh.

Is xeno2 bigger than BOTW?

Might want to do octopath traveler before Xenoblade chronicles 2, cause that game may keep you playing longer than you intend. Most people got over 500 hours on record. Me, I beat it in 6 days, less 80 hours total but there more redundant stuff that keeps you playing and that's what is poorly done. Is good and I like it but most people find it worst than the first one for shifting direction of many things like story, characters, side quest, and progression in general.

Just a warring, if you do play and get sucked in, also season pass content may help extend playtime and help in the very beginning. RPGs are hard for everyone to like or accept, me included. I bought very few rpg games that I enjoy with most I play disliking for bad practice. :ninja:

I have about 12 hours in ys 8. the one bug I've noticed is a single music skip when moving from one map to another. one of the updates seems to have corrected it. everything else seems fine.

What is so bad about the PC version ? In 80 hours of gameplay all i got are some translation errors, 3 or 4 random crashes (annoying tho), and one glitch that caused me to get past a loading zone trigger (the yellow line)
