Even if you are wealthy I don't recommend investing too much, specially because they either already made or are making a god damn 128TB SD (the bigger one), I'm sure they will keep increasing little by little and win a HUGE amount of money while they actually can make something already hundreds of times better and they also come with PCI-E controller built-in and capable of around 1GB\s, its more like a full SSD in a small SD.

the 200 and 400 gb cards have recently been reduced in price so they are kinda affordable now. but a 200 is still much cheaper per gb than the 400's.

really, people make a big deal about read or write speeds, but at least when they're inside the console, the internal sd reader is easily the bottleneck of the operation.
and be real, the 2 minutes you save while putting files from pc to sd is nothing.

as for the rest, i'm not sure you should expect sd sized sdds anytime soon. and not at an affordable price either

I use a SanDisk Extreme and a Samsung Evo both work great.

This is using the TX dongle solution (still waiting for mine). Looking to get a 256gb sd to start with.

If you update a game with the sd card removed, the update data gets saved to internal memory, thus saving space on your sd card. So, power off, remove sd card, power on, use + on the main menu to update game. When it is done updating, power off, insert sd card, power on. Boom - game updated with update data located on internal memory.

If you update a game with the sd card removed = u don't update game, because u remove game with SD!

I have a preference for SanDisk cards. The last Samsung EVO card I bought was DOA and I'm bitter about the brand ever since.
Kingston is also a good brand and I have a card from them that's worked marvelously for the past couple of years.

No U3 is faster. https://www.androidpolice.com/2017/...s-classes-speeds-recommendations-spring-2017/ I know that the switch can only support u1 but having u3 will speed up transferring files from your pc to your sd card.

But you don't really need 500MB\s to put like a 4GB game inside... even a 10 GB or higher game will be good. The U3 at least on Sandisk tested by more than one guy on youtube loads games slower than the Sandisk class 10 U1 (Sandisk Ultra vs Sandisk Extreme), though they are only around 1s or less difference to load games, maybe more on some games, but won't exactly make a difference, but extreme is just a waste of money as its more expensive 4 nothing to use on the Switch.

That is just pointless... I have had a Kingston 64GB class 10 that the second time I used it on my Nvidia Shield it died and never detected on anything, had to send to warranty and wait more than 1 month to get it. The replacement Kingston is still alive for like 2 years.

This week I also bought a Sandisk Ultra A1 128GB and its screwed too, I have to go to the store to get a new one. Basically it was giving around 80MB\s and after a quick format it now get stucked to 20MB\s no matter what SD reader I use and no matter what format, I also did a full format after and nothing... Its a original card, tested after with real 128GB and bought on a official SanDisk seller for my country.

Just stick with the U1 cards from sandisk or samsung
its not really worth it for above those unless you are changing roms constantly

I was just giving my input because the thread is asking for recommendations. It was my input based on my experience. I've had dozens of SanDisk cards without issue, and my very first Samsung EVO card was a dud. It's not a good look for the brand, so I don't recommend it. Everyone has different experiences with products, that's normal.

You don't actually, as once you select a game in SX OS cfw, it creates a syslink in OFW. Just reboot into OFW with the SD card removed, press + on a selected game to update it, then power off and reinsert the SD. I just tried it tonight, as my TX pro arrived.

sure if you somehow frequently transfer files from pc to sd card for some reason. but its main use which is loading game and file is slower, not worth spending extra money just to load slower

I watched a digital foundry video comparing a u1 and a u3 card. The u3 card loads games 1/6th of a second slower but copies files 3 times faster on a PC compared to a u1 card.

As I stated previously a u1 card will load faster than a u3 card by 1/6th of a second but u3 cards are better for copying files from your PC because they are 3 times faster.
