Pls close this thread en change the title.
Don't know how...maybe a mod could change it? I forgot the question mark at the end sorry.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

wait, is there such a thing as aa new switch revision already?
I just really wanted to see if I got a hardware revision, didn't meant to confuse people.

And when it happens, how will we know? Some sort of info leak, patent, gamestop memo? Because the first units will most likely be bought by people who never intend to mod them

Probably won't know until someone gets ahold of one and comes on this forum saying "hey, the new revised systems are in store, can't get into RCM mode on the new system"

Yeah, except there are a bunch of crappy jigs being sold that don't work, and people who don't know any better will just assume they have a new revision Switch. This type of thread will become increasingly common over the next few months.

In the wild, no or not yet known. Known to be coming, yes.

Currently 'codenamed' Mariko, it is a motherboard revision to reflect the exploit (fusee) used in the bootloader recovery mode (RCM) of the (SoC) Tegra processor used on the Switch and various other devices.

You can edit your first post though to say it's a false alarm or something.

Maybe once the new revisions are out, someone can demonstrate it's actually a new revision by showing a video of an old Switch vs a new one. Maybe a reputable user on here or another reputable site can show a jig working on the current model and then show what happens on the newer revision once it hits stores. I'll be picking up a second Switch sometime so if I wind up with a new revision it won't matter because it'll be for legit use and my current one for homebrew/backup loaders. Typically they'll have SOME difference in them (like different power rating or location of ventilation, like the Xbox 360s had different power ratings and plugs, PS1 had ports removed and laser mechanism moved)

Well, if they are smart they will use it as a chance to improve any design flaws, so hopefully it will be easy to spot the difference.

That's why I made the thread, the JIG worked on my old gray Switch, I checked the serial # thread and saw my new Switch as one of the latest FW.

By the way, the new Switch revision will still be able to enter RCM. That's not what they are fixing (RCM is there because of how the Switch is integrated with the Tegra chip). They are fixing sending stuff through the USB port while it is in RCM. Sending the payload on a Mariko Switch should do absolutely nothing. So the easy comparison here would involve 2 Switches, maybe on the same firmware, both in RCM and tethered to something that can the same payload, like Fusee.bin. The current Switch revision (Erista) will boot the sample payload while the other (Mariko) will stay on a black screen.

Wonder if TX will flip to using a soldered modchip option then if they can successfully enter RCM in an easy way on the new revision. Only time will tell.

RCM will likely be entered in the same way. However with the exploit of sending data fixed in RCM, TX would need to find another way
