Hacking New Switch revision

FALSE ALARM! The RCM JIG I bought of eBay worked on my launch Switch but not on a new Neon Switch I got, but it was indeed the JIG. I can't change the thread title so if a mod could help, thanks.



I don't know if this is the correct place, sorry if not. I think I have the new Switch revision, bought a neon recently and home made or ebay bought RCM Jig doesn't work on it...shorting the red joycon works but nothing works on the Switch itself, I'm I crazy or what?

If it came with firmware below 5.xx then its very unlikely to be the new mariko revision (as indications to it are in FW 5 and above only) - Although perhaps they can still somewhat patch the RCM exploit without touching the firmware?

Yes, if I do the tinfoil to the Red joycon it works and I can test homebrew and play some FBA. The ebay jig or paper clip does not work. It's a XAW7001 Switch if someone has one.

IF it works via the tinfoil method then all fine and it indicates that the rcm method is working.

Came with 4.1 or 4.0 don't remember well. I cannot for the life of me make it work with the jigs, the ebay jig works on my launch day Switch

It's not a new unit, if you can boot into rcm using tinfoil then it's a normal switch, your jigs must be fucked up

I was thinking that but posted here to confirm as this is the best and nicest community (in general) to ask.
 
Even if the thread seems stupid I want to thank you all because I gave up trying 2 days to boot the CFW, after almost all of you assured me it had to be the JIG I changed the paper clip with a new one and It worked! They seem exactly the same to my eye but what the hell, thanks very much again. Maybe this helps someone dunno.

Probably the original metal piece of you JIG was misaligned shorting the wrong pins. This can happen with people who mass produce it but doesn't even know the purpose of them or doesn't have the time to do QA on the items.

Had the same problem with a jig I bought on Ebay there seem to be a little more plastic on the bottom of the 3d printed jig it wasn't making any contact at all.
Ended up just using a triangle tip screwdriver and it works every time. I'd use a paperclip or tin foil, but i'm horrible at crafting things.

okay i just spent like 5 minutes fixing it, it's only showing on my profile rn i guess i have to wait for a few minutes for it to update
