Not sure what you mean by this. There is a softmod that works specifically from 3.01-4.1 which was showcased way back in February, however there are no immediate plans to release it. One theory is they are holding out until the new Mariko Switches become available so they can test it on them. No softmods have been tested on 5.x, which is the firmware the Mariko Switches will be bundled with, and since they haven't released the softmod yet, there's a chance it hasn't been patched out yet. If they are patched in 5.x, then they will be immediately released because there is no longer any fear that Nintendo will patch it in a future update. It becomes a toss-up if they still aren't patched in 5.x. Hackers usually only release their tricks once there's a fix. As with the CFW, its still a waiting game. How's the progress on Softmod boot for FW under 4.1.0?
It is possible and its hard to tell if you broke the pin without taking a look. Use a flashlight or something and just count how many pins you see. Pin 1 is closest to the screen while pin 10 is the farthest (and is the 10th pin).Sorry for the question, but how possible is it to break the pins in my Switch?
Some time ago, I tried the paperclip trick to get my Switch into RCM mode, but I couldn't work it out for some reason. Later, I bought a tested RCM jig from ebay but it doesn't work, either. Did I kill the pins with my paperclip? How can I test this?
I would like to use my 128 gb sdcard on my switch. I read somewhere that if I format as fat32 it should work. However it asks me update even to fat32
Some people don't mind taking the risk of playing pirated games, using hacked saves, or running homebrew on the latest firmware. If you want to be 100% ban safe while enjoying hacks, you would use all hacks/homebrew on your SysNAND while any games you want to play online would be done. The problem with this is that you still have to buy games that will be connected to the Internet. This of course assumes that there is will be a way to install game updates, DLC, and other online-related services without using Nintendo's servers.Whats the point in updating EmuNAND? I mean, why would i get online on it for gaming/updating if im using it for homebrew/backup loads etc. I think if im doing """ilegal""" stuff there, then thats the one i shouldnt use online on, right? But then the whole point of EmuNAND is not to update SysNAND, but shouldnt that one be the one to play my legal online games on?

Because the only way Nintendo can figure out what you're doing on your console is when its connected to the Internet. As long as SysNAND, or any console for that matter, stays offline, Nintendo can't track what you are doing in it. You get banned once data about your console gets sent to Nintendo which only gets sent when you're online. Nintendo, and any company, can't track what you do on a device without any sort of link, whether it be physical (like going to your house) or online. Why would it be "100% safe" to use homebrew on SysNAND? I dont mind buying online games, thats kinda what im gonna do ( Smash, maybe Pokemon, etc)
What i want is be able to play online without doing homebrew stuff in the same NAND, while leaving the other NAND offline and use homebrew there, but that would mean updating SysNAND for online and thats what "we" dont want, right?
Thing is, we dont know if its safe to use homebrew as of now, so i see no point in updating EmuNAND just for online gaming.... I think im a mess with this lol.

Oh, that's what you meant. I mean we all say you always run the risk of getting banned for running any homebrew/hacks and connecting to online, but honestly, most people don't get banned. You'd have to do something crazy/stupid to actually get banned for using hacks/homebrew. As long as you're conspicuous, you will be fine. The only reason we can't guarantee being ban-free because we're not Nintendo and we don't know what they are tracking to ban people. We only learn that type of stuff retrospectively, i.e. after people are banned and figuring out what they all had in common.I know.... What i meant is that knowing that, what should i do to play online withou risking the ban for using homebrew. I think the "only" way is to play on a clean SysNAND and that means updating it.
I guess its not bad cause i could always launch EmuN from FG, so SysN is not necessary for exploits.... right?

I mean, I'll be playing both legal and illegal games on EmuNAND fully aware of the risks so I'll be taking every precaution to not get caught. Also, the goal is to keep SysNAND as low as possible if YOU are interested in other exploits in the future. If you're comfortable with using RCM and a USB cable, then you don't even need an EmuNAND since all firmwares can be hacked this way. There is a possibility that the softmod exploit used for 3.01-4.1 can work on 5.x but they haven't gotten around to testing it since they have been so focused on Atmosphere. This is also why they haven't released the exploit yet because they don't know if its been patched out or not.Got it, so then it """should""" be fine to online play on EmuNAND with legal games. Still whats the point on not updating SysNAND if we dont need it for exploits at all ( at least for 5.0.x).

That's...quite the interesting setup you got there. Yes, theoretically if you do it that way, you shouldn't get banned. I mean if you really don't care about future exploits, then you can just update SysNAND all the way. To me, it just seems like you're limiting your options if you update SysNAND because we don't yet have access to a holy grail exploit that can be used on all firmwares and doesn't have a restriction like tethering. If you do all homebrew offline on SysNAND while playing legitimately on EmuNAND, it will achieve the same risk/reward ratio as what you're suggesting. But at the end of the day, its your decision.Exactly, this is kinda what i wanted to know. So i could use a clean SysNAND for online and EmuNAND for homebrew while staying offline there, all that if i dont mind using FG cause tbh i dont think we would get softmod for 5.0 any time soon.
I think its a valid question Anyways, I actually have 2 Switches, although one of them I paid half for and gave to my brother because we are not gonna share one Switch. His is on 3.0 because he isn't interested in anything currently so he stayed on the previous golden firmware. Mine is on 4.1 since the last time I left it after completing Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which I think was a good call for me because I'm hoping for the future softmod to be released. Booting into RCM is fine, but I don't like tethering all that much.alexj9626 said:Dumb question, whst firmware are you on?
Also I just noticed the question you had about the homebrew launcher. The homebrew menu is loaded from files off the SD card so Nintendo can't check those for risk of breaking our privacy. But technically, we're not doing the functions of the album once we're inside. Some people left their most favorite/recent game on the 3DS as something related to homebrew and never got banned. However, that was the 3DS and the Switch is a different animal it seems. Again, people getting banned for running purely homebrew are rare, if not non-existent.Edit: i guess theres no way to know this now, but what does it shows when we enter HB from the gallery? Does Ninti thinks we are running the gallery? I remember that on the 3ds it shows something like "playing homebrew" when accesing from the cia but not from download channel.
