Anyone have used the Ninjapass X9 before? It claims to support Wifi play which is awesome because the R4 I have at the moment doesn't support Wifi and it's a pain that I can't play my DS with my Wii. Planning to get one off of http://www.emveegaming.com as their sale price is very tempting...

Wifi is just "something wireless", it could apply to any sort of multiplayer, mostly refers to online multiplayer, and it might apply to wii connectivity, but most of the time they'd just call it wii connectivity then...

All I know is that NinjaPass X9 used to be a useless piece of crap (bad compatibility), that may have improved since then, but don't think it ever gotten better then R4. *-)

Also DealExtreme sells the same products cheaper, it has slow shipping times though, don't know if emvee is any better... *-)

I have an X9, does everything the R4 does minus soft-reset. (and that download play is spotty, but I don't know that many other's with a DS anyway)

I mean, when LoZ PH was released, the X9 was one of the few cards that didnt need an update to play it (R4 and M3 DS needed an update....)

If you want to fuck around with shoddy save-type detection, having to defragment your PoS X9 regularly, and numbingly idiotic forum mods - go for it. Otherwise, don't waste your money... if you're short on money, buy and N-card or an R4/M3 simply. I mean really, it's taken them almost 1 whole year to get a vaguely workable product which probably still doesn't live up to its original claims. If you're going to buy one, get a 'used' one. I'm sure there are plenty of forum users with 'as new' X9's sitting in their desks who would be pleased to recoup a fraction of their wasted money.

I would sell you mine if I wasn't a collector

stay away from it. I got it for free, and i bought another device. It's a pain to the ass to use and not user friendly. Even it's free, i don't want it.

N-Card is better than this Ninjapass?

Heres my opinion on the X9.

I bought it at launch, for £40 ( a bit expensive but hey),
The good things about it

It does 99% of what i want, plays games and plays homebrew.
The community is good, with good ideas and the members take time out in making a better then it is.

The bad things about it is

Support is not that good, we have to wait a age for an update, and when we do we get a flurry of updates and then nothing.

Still behind on features e.g. soft reset and auto didl

If we do get a new update, most chances are that we have to reformat the card, whch can be a pain putting all the games back on.

Lots of suggestions for new features but it will take a long time for those to be implemented.

What I am trying to understand is that people were bagging the X9 cause of all of the features that it lacked that the R4 had (soft-reset, no save list, cheat engine), when the EZ5 didnt have those and people still loved it.

There wasn't a large group which loved the EZV. IIRC the EZV had those features at an early stage, but they had to be patched in with the client.

We're not bagging the X9, we're just saying it's a dodgy piece of shit (which is true). What gets me is not the lack of features, but the annoying discrepancies in the way it handles the microSD filesystem and also savetypes. Why should I have to backup/format/defragment my SD all the time, and hack the savetype list whenever a new game is dumped? I'm sure MC Hawking would say... Fuuuckthat!

Reread your first sentence.

And you dont have to update the save list to play new games anymore.
