it's usable if yuo use IOS58 for the homebrew, so it means it works with WiiMC, or nintendont, or INSIDE a USB Loader, but not to play games from USB which requires a cIOS (not IOS58).
for cIOS, only USB Port 0 is usable. there's a picture on the guide.

Not for a USB drive, but can the front USB ports be used at all for anything else in vWii mode, like peripherals?

I don't know if it works for games (to plug guitare, wiispeak, NFC portal, etc.), as lot of games with accessories are not using IOS58 so they don't have the ehci (USB2.0) driver. for example, WiiSpeak uses IOS38&55.
You'll have to test, that's the fastest way to know

I use my luminous USB Keyboard on Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and it keeps on during every Wii U game I am playing, it works on Browser too but anytime I go to te vWii the Keyboard is powered off.

It's recommended for 5.5.2 but should work on all versions

method 2 works with all vWii firmwares. (and it's irrelevant which WiiU firmware you have, as you are in vWii mode to use this hacking method)

method 1 is now favored as it doesn't require any game disc, but you can still use method2 if you feel more confident with it.

What do you mean? method 1 is essentially Wuphax

I guess the OP is outdated as browser exploit for 5.5.2 exists for quite a while now though the success rate is not that high. You just need to be patient and retry many times. Once succeeded, install Haxchi and you are done with the patience game.

Anyway, I don't remember any one reported method 1 works/not works with 5.5.2 specifically but many neglected to "backup your original vWii MiiMaker channel" or misplaced it causing problems but those are user errors.

Yeah, that was I found when searching information, people told to use wuphax even in 5.5.2 but the guide said it might not works in 5.5.2 which is conflicted and now I'm confused lol.

So, If I basically have cbhc installed. Wuphax should works, right?

Yes, all you need is access to the homebrew launcher

Can anyone help a brother out,

I am using nusgrabber managed to get a handful of games up and running. But can’t seam to get any Lego ones working says no valid game,update dlc etc

Is there anything else other than nusgrabber to use.

Also the game I purchased from the wii store to launch Homebrew is there a way to actually play the game with out going to Homebrew.

the guide is old, and has not been updated when 5.5.2 was released.
If you understand what the guide is doing, you'd understand that 5.5.2 is working.
This step is essentially "Launch the homebrew launcher" by visiting and URL to trigger the browser exploit. it's now possible to launch homebrew with 5.5.2, so just adapt the guide to launch the homebrew launcher based on your console's version.

Method1 works with 5.5.2, BUT not with the link provided in the guide.
you need to follow the actual "5.5.2 browser exploit" guide/website, instead of the "5.5.1 browser exploit" URL provided in this guide.

it's not hard to find the url for 5.5.2

all the other things are the same, you just need a different URL to visit to trigger the browser exploit to get into the Homebrew Launcher. Once into the Homebrew Launcher, every steps are identical.

And these steps are ONLY if you don't already have Haxchi, CBHC, or any other way to launch the Homebrew launcher.
if you already know how to access the homebrew launcher, just do it your way.

Okay, so I've tested both 52 and 53 of the cIOS's and haven't noticed any real difference between them. I can use neither of the front ports, both of the rear USB ports, but the USB microphone peripheral I plug into port "1" is only picked up while loading the game in question with 249; 250 doesn't recognise it, and 251 doesn't load the game at all. This is following the setup from the OP. If 52 isn't meant to support the second rear USB then that doesn't appear to be what I'm experiencing, unless I'm doing something wrong.

So now the problem is that a portable hard drive would be more low-profile, but I'm not sure if it'd work without a splitter, which is a problem since I need the second USB for this game. An externally powered drive would be less "elegant", but perhaps less of a risk in terms of support, though the problem there is most are pretty big and expensive, and I'd only really need 1-2TB.

Are there any portable drives known to work on vWii with only one USB port, such as the one mentioned in this thread: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/631516-wii-u/70035997?page=1

I've heard that this one only needs one usb port. It even comes in white in case you have a basic Wii U.

I don't know if there's a good way to ask people's experiences, and if anyone has gotten anything like this working.

I'm wondering if an available equivalent (Toshiba) drive might work the same.

Try your external hard drive (Toshiba) with a Y-cable for better power.

Power supplies with a single USB port work poorly.

Just as USB sticks work badly with the Wii U, use an external hard drive.

As I explained, I need the second port for USB peripherals and I'm not sure if I could plug the power cable part of the splitter into anything else to draw power from instead.

The Toshiba drive I previously bought was for my original Wii which was left in another country. I have a backup of all the files, I just need to work out what drive to use with the Wii U's vWii.

I'm guessing I might be looking at an externally powered drive, in which case, any recommendations?
