Do a system format. You'll be able to log in again later if you wish. If you don't want to format the system, then you can do it with GodMode9 - see https://3ds.guide/godmode9-usage. Or if you never want to log in again you can delete it through System Settings.
Would doing a system format affect CFW? Also would I be able to link a new NNID if I choose to? My main goal is to put a different one on it. I assume if it's safe to do so, I could back up as I did when I first modded and it won't restore the old NNID.

why is your username "MRjason005" but you have a grandma as a profile pic
The grandma is called Θεοπούλα from the Greek TV series Στο παρά πέντε (2005-2007), some clips are here
The SD card adapter shows up in device manager, yes. And it also works with a regular SD card.
Would it be possible for you to share some pictures of your hardmod solder job?

No, formatting does not remove B9S.
Yes, you will be able to log into a new NNID afterwards. However, you cannot log in to an NNID that is linked to another 3DS. You have to either system transfer or call Nintendo to log in to another 3DS's NNID.

Ok I'll try to do that, thank you.

Sorry I'm a little confused, so I was reading through the thread and key1340 is saying to follow part 15 of section 2 of this guide: https://3ds.hacks.guide/ctrtransfer
I assume that I should start the ctrtransfer guide from the beginning and make a backup on my PC of my O3DS and N2DSXL SD cards though in case I make a mistake somewhere? After I do that, I should have a backup of the tickets right? What exactly is a NAND backup? Is that a backup of all the contents in the SD card?

On my O3DS, I just have FreeShop, a few games download from Freeshop, PKSM, the TWL and JKSM save Tools, some GBA games, and the apps from the 3ds.hacks.guide setup tutorial.
Don't follow the CTR transfer guide. You only need a subset to be able to back up and restore the tickets. Would you like me to separate the subset out and write only the instructions you need to follow so you don't get confused by seeing instructions you aren't to follow? Just do things in the order I said before.

Yes please, that would be very helpful, I only just hacked my O3DS a few months ago so I'm a newbie to all of this. I still don't understand what terms like NAND mean or what tickets are. All I've done is follow the guide on 3ds.hacks.guide and browsed some forum threads and youtube videos over the past few months about 3DS CFW. ^^;

I am new here and I have tried reading the 3DS hacks guide but couldn't understand it so I bought a homebrew 3DS that was brand new and never been played. But my question is this:

Some of the files on my brand new SD card corrupted causing me to get a error and a black screen and dumping info showing. I also couldn't access my data management under system settings so I turned the system off and removed the SD card and backed it all up to my computer. Then I created a new folder and copied everything to it and I got on another computer and formatted my SD card to prevent my copied data from being deleted as well on my laptop. Then I copied everything to the card and sure enough everything was working like new again. But it showed corrupted files in my data management and I had to delete the corrupted files and redownload and sure enough my data was still still like it had never been corrupted, what gives? My finished doodle lessons were still there and my theme plaza games progress even though that data was corrupted so all I had to do was delete it and redownload it and wah la, restored.

But one of my homebrew files was corrupted and it was the FBI file. I thought I could delete it to try and reinstall again but instead it made my freeshop not work anymore. So I had to reformat my card again and re copy everything and my freeshop worked again. So somehow that corrupted FBI file keeps everything working on my game system. I also found if I launch homebrew app, I am able to access the FBI app through there and it works. I just can't open it from the icon. I also can't delete the icon or else it will mess things up.

I also have my other sd card backed up as well (that came with the system) so everything was still working on it when I switched SD cards so I knew it was the SD card issue, but it turns out some files were only corrupted and that was what was causing errors and keeping me from accessing everything on it such as anemone and data management and Swap Doodle. This was a brand new card I bought from a department store and it was a $50 card but it was on sale for under $15. The brand is PNY elite.

So I don't know what is going on here, why is it that I can only launch the CIA through homebrew app but not through the app itself?

Also when I was copying files to my computer, it wouldn't copy all of them due to the file being corrupted so it was either try Again or Skip or Cancel. I just hit skip. So I lost lot of my custom 3DS themes and yet the themes that were removed were still playing on my 3DS because I had them on shuffle but they were not showing in anemone. Why did this happen?

I know computers and data can do strange things, even though something had been removed, it will still act like it's there. One time a mod on another forum decided to mess with my account while I was still using the forum and logged in by changing my password and deleting my email address and sure enough, the forum acted like I was still logged in even though it said I was logged out because I could still make posts. But go on a different browser, it would say I was banned.

Anyhow I can fix this FBI app error and make it work again without it saying SD card is removed and getting a back screen saying to press any button to restart the system? Like I say it works normal through homebrew app when I launch it from there but it won't launch from the app alone on my home screen. When I open the SD part on FBI, most of the words are in red. Not that I use it anyway because I don't want to mess any of my files up because I wouldn't know what I am doing. Also my system is up to latest version and it's on Luma.

Could accessing the eshop cause this corruption because that was when it happened but at the same time we had the internet guy here and he disconnected the internet because my husband didn't tell me the internet would be going out and I didn't know he would be shutting it off. I know when it's loading, it can cause the data to corrupt so maybe that is what may have happened, maybe it was in the middle of loading and I didn't know the internet had gone out. When I know it will be out, I do not do anything like going online by accessing any eshops or going in the theme shop. Of course my husband felt bad and was apologetic when I told him the internet shut off may have caused a corruption on my gaming system because I was online looking at games in the shop. So all afternoon spent trying to fix this mess and recover. But so far the system seems to be working fine now other than FBI app being corrupted and can't be accessed without going to homebrew app first.

I installed CFW on my new 2DS XL using the R4i Gold 3DS Plus and now I'm thinking about buying a second hand DS Lite. Just wondering if 1. the same flashcart can be used (on the website it says yes) 2. can I play both DS and GBA roms from the internal memory (basically install it instead of loading it from the flashcart)?

I ask the second question because if I'm not mistaken I would have to get a DS slot flashcart and GBA slot flashcart otherwise, correct? The guy selling it included EZFlash IV Bundle which seems like it has both, just not sure if it's any good.

yes, no*(you may be able to use twloader but it's a headache), yes (with VC Injects/emulator)

if you are wanting to play GBA games, play them via VC Injects on your 2DSXL for the larger screen and save states etc
but yes, you will need to use the Slot2 (EZFlash) to play GBA games on the NDS unless you use an emulator that is slow
and a Slot1 card to play DS games on the DSlite as it does not have internal memory for use with games or anything anyway

Thank you for the information. I just don't enjoy playing the GBA/DS games on the 3DS because they don't fit the display properly and I think the music reproduction of the VC-injected GBA games is pretty bad. Might get a refurbished GBA SP and DS Lite on the cheap instead.

I recently posted in this thread asking for help setting up my Luma+Gateway 3DS.

Everything works as a charm, thanks again to Quantumcat for his help!

I followed Plailect's guide to install b9s and Luma, then Temptress Cerise's guide to restore GW access ( /threads/tutorial-using-luma3ds-gateway-on-b9s.431691/ ).
After that I updated Luma on sysNAND to the current firmware and Gateway on emuNAND to 11.2 using a rom.
Currently I can access my Gateway emuNAND pressing down during boot and Luma boots by default.

Since I found myself using my Gateway more than Luma at the moment, I wanted to ask if it would be possible to boot directly into Gateway (emuNAND) and use down to boot into Luma (basically the reverse of my current setup).
Is there any (not overly complicated >_>) way to do so?

If you go on luma config hold SELECT and press power there should be autoboot emunand enable it and restart

Hi all. I have a 3DS XL running 11.5.0-38E. I have been out of the 3DS scene for a while and all I have is an old MT-Card which only supports 4.5. My question, what is the easiest way for me to play 3DS ROMs on this software version? Are there flashcards that support 11.5?

I don't think so, unless bootctr9 can work with no button presses. You'll need to look it up. You could put the luma boot.firm also in luma payloads and access it through Select on boot. I don't think it is a good idea because in the future if your Gateway card breaks and you forget how it was set up and how to get into Luma, you might think your console is effectively bricked (since the Gateway card is required to get into Gateway mode)

Quick question here. I'm on the newest 3ds firmware. When I boot up LumaUpdater to update to newest Luma CFW, it says there is an error and my 3DS reboots. Can anyone help?

EDIT: Homebrew Launcher says that it failed to download the actual payload with HTTP: 0xd8a0a03

Is there a way to dump 3ds roms without customer firmware installed. I have a Gateway 3DS card (to have multiple games without needing to swap cards)
but using downloaded roms, I dont have the save games from my original cards.

What version Luma are you on currently? Hold Select on boot to see.

I believe the Gateway menu has an option for dumping cartridges. Hold L when booting Gateway mode to see the menu.

Your best way is to buy a compatible DS flashcart and install CFW with ntrboot
