I have a hacked old 3DS and am thinking about upgrading to the newer 2DS XL. I wish to hack the 2DS XL as well, is it possible/safe to transfer all my files on my old hacked 3DS to the 2DS XL? Or would it be safer just to manually hack the 2DS XL and install all my old files and game saves manually? Are the recent batch of 2DS XL's currently hackable? Is it also possible to use a 64GB micro SD card on the NEW 2DS XL?

It is definitely possible to install cfw on the latest version of 3ds/2ds. Head over to 3ds.guide. 64 and 128gb micro sd cards are compatible the n3dses.

Oh, yea. @EmBlaze I remember reading about private headers and trying to play on the side of caution, because like you said, if multiple people are using the same header, everyone is going down. Before, I received an answer to my question regarding backing up my own ultra moon cart to play it without the cart every single time and continuing with my save file. I was recommended to use the eshop's version and that should work for me. This is where I get confused. So maybe, homebrew applications should only to be used with 3dsx files and cia only with games? However, I have many times where people stated they didn't cheat online and disable sys info and show buddy games and they still joined the banwave. I need to read more on this topic. By the way, thanks for the reply.
What he said isn't right.

3dsx files are homebrew only, user-made programs. They are launched from the homebrew launcher.

Cia files can be games or homebrew. They are installed on the console. There is no risk going online with them (for commercial games, not homebrew)

3ds files are the ones ripped from cartridges. They can only be used with flashcarts (Gateway or Sky3DS) and are the ones that are risky going online with.

Once it is running custom firmware will it be able to play any region game cartridges?
Thanks

Yes it will, and there's no need to hardmod (unless you already have all the equipment and you're very skilled, otherwise better to do single system DSiWare or ntrboot).

I am having a problem and I'm looking for any feedback or solution anyone might have.

What I did:
I followed the 3ds hack guide, until i got to the "Update your device by going to System Settings, then “Other Settings”, then going all the way to the right and using “System Update" part and skipped that bit because i didnt have wifi at the time. I proceeded to install games etc. Last night I did the CTRTransferr and got Wi-Fi so I updated and now all my games are gone from the home menu, but the SD card is still full so I assume the games are still there...

The question:
How do i fix this, or, if I have to reinstall all the games, where do i find the data on the SD card to delete them all?

I apologize if this has been covered already, I couldn't find it.

If you followed the instructions at https://3ds.guide/ctrtransfer it should have told you how to keep your games, I guess you missed a part of it. You should be able to fix it by running tikShop or tikDevil to reinstall tickets (if all the games are from freeShop). If this doesn't work (and you tried both) let us know (I am wondering if tikShop and tikDevil aren't working anymore, if they don't work for you I will check myself so if they're not working I know not to tell people to use them).

and this won't count as going online, am I right?
Turning your wireless on automatically makes the console connect to WiFi and Nintendo servers if it can, and it will broadcast what you run. Sky3DS titles with a private header are very low risk, and it should count for nothing even then unless you go online with the title itself. If you want to feel safe, you can delete or slightly alter your WiFi network in the 3DS settings so it doesn't connect.

So I've recently installed Luma and other stuff with SeedMiner hack that was suggested here and it went great. So thanks for that. :)
I've ordered a new microSD card to replace the 4gb one. Will it work if i just copy and paste everything from the old card to the new one? If not, what is the right way to change cards if my 3DS is already running CFW?

I've found this guide - [How To] Transfer emuNAND to another SD card. Working on New3DS!
Is that what I'm looking for?

all you want to do, is use guiformat to format the SD as fat32 with 32768 byte allocation
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

then just copy your current SD card to a folder on your desktop, then copy the content back to the new one
then enjoy :)

Great, thanks)

The other thing I'm worried about is not getting banned. Is there a way to minimize the chance of getting banned other than disabling "sending off system information", SpotPass and "show friends what i'm playing"? Are there any games that are safer than others? :D
I'm curious about Monster Hunter 4U specifically.

dont cheat, dont play games before release, these are the 2 reasons that people get banned for mostly

I am on 9.2 currently and have Luma installed. I want to install some .cia games (to play offline) which have firmware updates in them, but I also want to stay on 9.2 because I have no flashcard and want to be able to reinstall homebrew with soundhax in case I decide to uninstall in the future for some reason. Is there a way/program/guide to manually patch the fw update out of .cia? If not, does freeshop strip the fw update out of a .cia before installing it?

If a game requires a higher firmware than you have, it will just not open (it will get stuck on the Nintendo 3DS red waves loading screen). You can use SoundHax from 11.3 or lower, plus, you can't remove CFW unless you actually uninstall it. There is zero reason not to update.

Hello I'm new to all of this and I finale just got my R4 SDHC Gold Pro in the mail today and I'm about ready to try to flash my 2ds xl.. It's running 11.6u..

so I have a few questions one is rather stupid I know but figured I should find out before I fuck it up.. okay so I've downloaded my proper kernel and I have copied it to the root of my new SD card.. but what im wonderin is do you use both memory cards like one in the actual memory spot of the 2ds xl and then one in the R4 flash cart

Or do you just use the one in the r4 and nothing in the memory spot till it's hacked or how does this work and do I hafto format the card so it' empty before I copy the files because I didn't because I didn' want to erase my file but every video i could find with a tutorial for this flash cart no one actually specifies if you need it to be empty how do I keep my save files? Thank you sorry for the big message
