Wow this thread is probably one of the worst on gbatemp so far.

Kind of hope that the devs that gives you all of their time just say Fuck it and walks way to do other things. Then whom would you all call an asshole then?

TX is different from Gateway. Gateway hadn't made a name for themselves and were newcomers. TX has been around the modding scenes for 16 years and have released incredible products, including software.
I'm not talking about TX, or comparing it to gateway. Personally, I'm quite interested in how it works and I'm hoping it'll make the scene interesting. I'm quite sure that they are capable.
I'm just pointing out the people who will talk shit about it if/when there is a free software solution to their cfw needs. The people that switch sides conveniently.

People would still call the devs assholes if they did this. Hykem comes to mind, but I heard his situation was a little more unique in why he left.

- I care for plutoo, I care for our devs -
- We own nothing, even our understanding is not ours -

If somebody says me, I am Christian (hacker), then I would reply: oh, so you are the one, who overrated yourself & who believes that, understood even one word from my teaching - nice to meet you - I am Jesus Christ

knowing TX they will most likely eventually have dual boot or some way to allow online

That's the thing I'm curious about since I never bought a 360 nor had any interest in the console. If it's gonna be anything like their previous work did the 360 get flagged as modded only when you played with a pirated/modified copy online or also when you used a legit game copy?

I used loadiine on the Wii U for games I was uncertain about whether or not I would like them or games that weren't worth the pricetag at the time while purchasing solid games with online functoniality (and the other ones I pirated and liked after I got them cheaper) getting the best of both worlds. I hope that the situation will be the same on the switch.

Nah, this thread is just like every other one each time a new Nintendo console gets released and there's talk about homebrew/piracy. The hykem christmas release one was way worse.

While I don't call them assholes (some I would refer to as spoiled manchildren at best) I wouldn't mind them walking away. If it was up to hurr durr throw stones because piracy is bad, I would have to get a 1.0 console instead of being potentially able to fully enjoy the system the way I want on 2.3 and I don't mind paying for it.

- I don't believe anybody & even our devs have to worry for themselves, their times, privacy or else -
- But I believe everybody & our devs have to care for community -
We have to care for what the human is, what the humanity will be.

360 eventually had 3 nands. there were stages where if you went online jtaged you could get banned. It all went away with dual nand. In the end you ended up with dual DVD firmwares and 3 nands. My xbox probably has more $$ of mods in it than my PC's worth but it lives on!

how the flying fuck does any work get done in regards to hacking when the userbase is full of utter manchildren

whatever patience the devs have been blessed with i am so jealous of, because if i had my way absolutely zero of you would get hacks at all ever

EDIT: since people were confused i wasn't bitching about the devs, i was bitching about the people in this thread whining about devs without doing anything

Simple.
Work does not take place here (or at least not in public), while you can visit happily enough and chat nonsense about games the notion of looking for useful input on your hacks is much akin to going to a news site and looking for useful political discourse in the comments (theoretically possible but so unlikely that you need not worry you are missing out), anybody that has a useful contribution can usually figure out how to actually make you aware of it (the speculation because it is fun crowd probably would struggle to issue a git pull request, or indeed where the subject of the "gimme h8x" crowd will be that someone that knows would probably know how to create a suitable topic on the aspect they wish to inform you of* or get the attention of a gatekeeper on IRC) and thus the noise gets filtered out.

*you can even do this with public forum topics. Make the title something technical but informative to those with the skills to understand it, front load the first two or three paragraphs with something technical (or a slightly expanded version of the title), make sure you have some nice code looking stuff in there, bury anything likely to be comprehended by the less technical somewhere in it all (but not the last paragraph) and then maybe do a technical executive summary as the last paragraph. The I want shiny legendaries for my starter pokemon set might sense something afoot but tend to leave it alone. If you are really good you create a release/speculation/beta testing/[insert other hax wanting bait topic] which corrals all the non hackers and leaves your other thread to do useful things and have manageable spam levels, or if you do suffer an infestation it is easy enough to move the nonsense to your corral topic.
Short version. Social engineering is useful for more than just talking your way into secure systems.

I appreciate all the work and time these homebrew devs, cfw devs and hardmodders are investing in hacking such a console. The whole community is
dependent from their success. I am thankful to everyone who spending time in public hacking projects like this.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

As soon as there's a free alternative to TX's mod, shits like these that I've quoted, will be the first to do a 180 and shower devs with their false praise. I hope they brick their Switches.

I've seen it on the 3DS scene where people were praising Gateway one day, and taking a shit on them when they got cfw. No, I'm not supporting Gateway and their practices, but I do acknowledge they moved the scene forward for a while. They're all happy and hopeful now, but when they have a free cfw, they'll be saying stuff like "You shouldn't have to pay for cfw and piracy, screw TX"

Yeah I hope i brick my switch to buying and playing games. I have no interest to mod my switch. If I did I would have kept my switch on a firmware under 3.0 or whatever it was. Don’t need piracy I make money, home brew it’s cool to see but could care less for, emulators? I have a 3Ds, vita, modern day smart phone, and a gaming laptop. Why would I shower the developers? I could care less about the developer scene. As a developer/programmer myself, I understand the work it takes to do what they do. If you would have kept reading my post to another user, I have agreed with them that I understand that just because this team here it doesn’t mean there work was for nothing useless.
So do yourself a favour and before quoting shits like these think a bit more and stop making assumptions.

it's because they spent all that time getting homebrew ready and are stuck on 3.0.0 now TX comes along and blows them away claims to be able to run it on anything. no one will want to stay on 3.0 now once this is out soft mods are obsolete on the switch

so people better start learning to solder (if that's needed that is) i'm hoping for a card reader :P

i never modded my 360 either, i got in right when the russian hack was coming out and after taking apart my new xbox and finding i had the bad chip on my drive board and would either need to drill a hole half way through it with surgical precision or order a board i decided to order a TX drive board but they had already stopped production and they sold out really quickly and they could not get the chips to make more , and it was a long time before they were produced again

with their drive flashing you could play backups online and with ODE's you could play online too ,but only after you patched the game
then when they found out how to do the RGH you had to either pick between a fully hacked console (like a jtag) with the RGH
that could run homebrew but not go online without being banned
or just having a modded optical drive or using an ODE to play backups online until they came out with their dual boot RGH chips

If people think about it, this not only helps with bringing more people into the homebrew scene but it also helps the community grow even faster, instead of 1 person working on an N64 Retroarch emulator, you can have 50 and it would be complete quickly thanks to Xecuter modchip bringing more people in, then there's Dreamcast, Arcade, everything.

Just because they give us their time doesn't mean they're immune to criticism. If a developer does something incredibly petty and stupid, like get pissy over competition, I'm going to criticize them for it. That's something they should welcome, or at most not care about, not be mad over. If they're angry that attention is being taken from them, they're in the scene for the wrong reasons. I don't see how that's such a terrible stance to have.

Thank you! Finally, someone said something logical in this bedamned thread. The more people on board for the hacking scene, the better, to hell with the idea only one team or one person should hack a console.
