So format, then redo from step 1? I'm currently deleting games I haven't played in awhile and games that I can redownload later, hoping to drop the HDD size to flash-drive levels. If I can get it down to less than 32Gb my drive should be able to hold a backup.

I didnt. Once I swapped the hard drive over when in recovery I installed Ferrox. Once that is installed I installed Rebug.
I'll spend the day alone on deleting and redownloading. My HDD was over 500Gb full (I had previously installed a 1Tb drive a few years ago).

Lol well it seems it's "impossible" to cfw my console. It'll likely be more years before anything is done with it hahaWell, don't lose hope yet!
