Hacking Some questions as to custom dashboards & RGH features

Hiya!

I am interested in getting my X360 (Model E, mfg late 2013,250GB, so I assume it is not a Winchester) modded with RGH2, and I have a few questions:

-How easy is it to install a dash (e.g Freestyle, Aurora dash)? I would like to choose my own and save a bit of money doing so (as I am getting the RGH from a shop). Essentially, I'd be buying the installation of the RGH chip (a coolrunner), and nothing else.

-How is the region-free functionality achieved ? Is it done by the dash, or by the chip? I assume it is a dash feature, as the chip is, well, a glitcher (right?).

Follow this guide.
You can copy the contents of the CD to a USB drive and boot XeXMenu that way.
To install Aurora, just substitute Aurora for FSD and follow the rest of the insctructions.

Region free..
Well, most games are region free tho very few require you to set Dashlaunch to spoof the region to Devkit and hold RB when booting a game.
This can be troublesome on FSD (dunno about Aurora) but it does work.

You can't really mess it up.
As you can just format the HDD and start all over again.

Just download the latest Dashlaunch from homebrew-connection.org and place it on the USB drive.
That way you won't install an old Dashlaunch.

Rgh can be a little difficult to understand at first. Just follow that guide and you'll be good. Have fun

Alright, having educated myself a little bit, a few questions still:

You mention assuming the person has Dashlaunch+Latest Kernel, and while you show how to install Dashlaunch anyway, how would I get myself on the latest kernel? From searching around...

1) there is a method involving dumping and patching your NAND
2) but as my X360 sits right now unmodded, should I just get the update from Microsoft itself? I recall reading that kernel does not affect ability to RGH provided that the motherboard is good, so... yeah

Otherwise, you seem to explain everything else. I also assume I can get your ISO, replace some of the things with updated versions, and rebuild the iso.
I am being so comprehensive because I gotta send the system out of town for actual chip installation

they could do the FSD themselves as well, but I'd rather do it myself and save the money..

You can simply update it via Live.
The modshop will hack it anyway.

You could indeed replace the dashlaunch version in the included ISO with the latest version yep.

You can dump your NAND via software once it's hacked and flash it back with "NAND flasher 360"
To update your system (if in the future, an update comes out again), simply follow this tut.
