So i got the 2ds xl and now I'm all set and ready to install b9s via dsiware but I'm a bit scared, what are the brick rates ?I really do not want to brick my new 2ds xl

0% chance. dsiware method only writes to FIRM0 for safety reasons.
If it is corrupted, FIRM1 will boot.

There is a chance of hax install failure, but not bricking.

Sdmmc init failed
Waiting for sdcard
What does that mean?

There hasn't been a single brick caused by B9S nor any method used to install B9S.
thank you :)

ok one question i'm about to install b9s on my new 2ds xl and it says to copy boot9strap.firm to the boot9strap folder without copying the boot9strap.firm.sha file
is that correct?

If the guide says to do it that should be fine. Worst case scenario you'll get an error that you're missing a file (with the option to force it if you wish). Sha files are just a check that the main file didn't get corrupted.
