I'd take it for a reasonable price if it was for sale .... but I just want to write a dump of a special cart back to its origin ... audio recording cart with integrated speaker.
Can someone help out?

Looks great on the first view, but I do not see how to write a backup of the .gb file back to the (writeable) card. Are there more devices like that around?

I have a device called pocketvoice from Bung. I made a rom dump with the Bung X-changer when I was younger. It contained my little son singing some kiddy song. The recording got lost but I still have the old .gb image. And I hoped to get it back onto the card somehow to hear it again ...

I think I can nail it to my final question:
If I write the old .gb backup back to the Bung Soundrecorder, will it play back the long lost kiddy song. Does the .gb-file contain the data?

extremly likely the song is in the save data... and not in the rom...

i suppose the rom doesn't open in an emulator right?
maybe someone could make it work in an emulator to the point you can check the menus if there is something in it...

anyway, i got a thing you can try...
if you can find a way to dump the rom out of it again (or search in the internet for for a dump, or in that checksum websites like no intro for the md5 code...)
and compare it to the rom you dumped long ago... (with md5 or sha-1)
if they match, well, the kiddy voice is not in there...

I remember when I backed it up with the bung x-changer that there was no possibility to get any saves ....

Pocket Voice is a 4 MBit cartridge with a speaker added. It works only with the special Pocket Voice Rom.You can record and play sounds with it. You can flash the Pocket Voice only with GBX and special Pocket Voice utilities. 2 MBit can be used for game programming.
Looking at some documentation of this thing it seems that it is indeed storing the sound in the Flashrom

here's some documentation:
http://reinerziegler.de/readplus.htm
http://reinerziegler.de/pv1.txt
http://reinerziegler.de/pv2.txt

either way, sorry I can't help you any further. Good luck finding a way :)

Edit: maybe there's a way to extract the sound from the Rom image directly

yep.. some rom hacker or similar maybe can adventure in the rom and find the audio and extract it to a compatible way to read in pc... if someone volunteers and OP would send them the ROM...

i was kinda wondering if the microphone+speaker where just an external dedicated device and it would just use the gb for power.. wich had it's own memory not accessible...

I just changed the file-ending .gb to wav and loaded it as raw into audacity. It was very easy to see wich block contained the data. After a little experimenting I found a samplerate that fits and I was able to make it audible. It is very noisy, but no doubt ... my son singing racist songs about chinese playing bit instruments ... Thanks a lot !

Drei Chinesen mit dem Kontrabass?

Glad to hear it was that easy, though.

I'd still be happy if someone could lend or sell me a Bung X-Changer for Gameboy (not Advance) in Germany.

I also got hold of an EMS transferer 2. I did not get the USB voltage supply cable. So I took the same AC-unit as for the Xchanger. This was a mistake as Xchanger needs 9v with negative on middle pin and EMS transferer2 needs 5V with positive in middle. I did not find this info in the net before. For gods sake nothing was damaged. But be cautious!
