Okay so I installed USB Loader GX with cIOS249 & cIOS250. I downloaded Super Smash Bros. Brawl just fine, played it just fine. Cool cool. (Using WBFS may I add, may be important.) However, when installing Sonic and the Black Knight it just black screens. I've looked all over but I can't find an answer to my persistent question. I've also tried it in Dolphin, and it works fine! It has to be a problem with my Wii, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Any help? Also tried Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 and Wii Sports Resort but to no avail for either. I really need help.

Yeah that is a popular wrong opinion. The copy of the game what you downloaded online, is a copy of a game that is not yours. Only if you download the copy of your games disc would be legal, but then you have to upload your disc. Maybe the data you download has no difference but legally there is a huge difference

I just did it because my version broke. Little sister snapped it trying to play Mario Kart Wii, took it out of the Wii wrong.

The thing is though, Smash Bros works completely fine but Sonic & The Black Knight doesn't. Also, thanks

Then you're in the wrong site/forum mate:creep:

yeah maybe, but i played it perfectly on Dolphin?

You're issue maybe a setting in GX that you may have to enable for that particular game and make sure you're on the latest version.

cios249 will suffice for all (default for the loader), as you dont necessary need to change the cios for every game. However, i did see people say use ios55 some years back, so try enabling that for that Sonic game.

It could be a video mode change too, if that fails or a bad dump.

Tip: WBFS is now outdated too, as FAT32/NTFS is now supported and is better. NTFS is what I use as it supports 4gb+ isos (dual layer)

NTFS is not required for games bigger than 4GB, unless you prefer keeping full 1:1 ISO instead of wbfs split file format.
FAT32 is the recommended format, as it works with all other homebrew (Wii games ISO, gamecube ISO, emulators, media players, apps, etc.)
WBFS is still working, as long as you don't use "WBFS manager" which corrupts games. but it's never a recommended format, it works, but that's a deprecated format.

You didn't tell if you are trying games from the same region or another region. If it's another region, it might be a video mode issue.

You told you are using slot249, that's "obvious" I should tell. ALL the loaders are using that slot.
what is important is what's installed INSIDE that slot.
it could be outdated, or wrong.

if you want to know what's inside your slots, you can follow the syscheck guide in my signature and post the result here.
if you don't want to know, you can update or change it, it will overwrite the previous one without problem.

but I'm curious to see if the issue is because of outdated or wrong IOS version, so please post a syscheck log first.

when installing Sonic and the Black Knight it just black screens
You said "when installing" ?
is the problem when installing or when launching ?

Launching is what I meant, sorry for the confusion. Also, I think the problem is that I used WBFS Manager. Any help switching to FAT 32 and keeping my files? Is that possible?

yes, it's possible to convert to FAT32 without losing your games, but the already corrupted one will stay corrupted.
some games might already be corrupted without you knowing it, as the corruption could be anywhere (not only on game's boot, it could be a later cutscene, or music, etc.)

follow WBFS2FAT and the guide in my signature to convert your drive.
then get a new ISO if it's corrupted (you can check the corruption using "Wii Backup Manager" Sha1 option, either on your WBFS partition or once converted to FAT32, it's like you want).

So, can I just place ISO files in the WBFS folder? I'm confused.

Now I'm getting an error screen with a bunch of white text on a black screen that says 'reloading in 20 seconds' at the bottom, before returning to a darker usb loader gx, effectively soft locking my console. Any help on this? I used wbfs2fat and then Wii Backup Manager. Also, there is a buzzing noise in the background. Trying to send a picture.

To answer your ISO question, you use Wii Backup Manager to copy/convert ISO to wbfs files, they will be split at 4GB automatically if required. There's no issue with game bigger than 4GB as the loader is compatible with split games.
