Hi, found myself a modded Xbox which sometimes boots to Evo X but most of the time boots without it.

Kinda new to the Xbox hacking scene and I have a few questions.

1. How could I force the Xbox to the Evo X dash?
2. Is there a way to load emulators from the DVD?
3. How do I transfer emulators from PC(or burned DVD) to the internal HDD? I don't have access to a router or a crossover cable right now so FTP is not an option.
4. How do I know the HDD size of this console? Says 50,000+ blocks remaining.

Thanks.

Just re softmod it and don't you have a normal Lan cable for FTP?

So I don't need a crossover cable to FTP? Just a normal ethernet cable would do?

Thanks.

I just tried to burn an ISO on a DVR-R. Xbox can't read it.

If you're using a gigabit ethernet on the PC, then giving the PC's Ethernet and xbox a static IP address should be enough from what I understand (thanks to auto-MDIX).

In regards to space, personally I prefer unleashX which does give space in MB/GB but the FTP client may be able to do this as well.

What hack are you using and what burn method?

I got this thing prehacked with EvoX(not sure if it's a softmod or a modchip). So I'm really very new to this.

I burned using Burnaware at 4x. The drive tray is the one with two holes on it(left and right).

How would I install UnleashX? Does it give me a way to install emulators I burned to a dvd(assuming it would read it)

Thanks.

A normal Lan cable does the job too.

Cool thanks! I won't have access to a store that sells them for at least a week though.

Burn a hexen dvd put it in the xbox and go to install unleashx.

I've just finished downloading it and the unzipped ISO is about 580mb.
Would it work if I burn it on a DVD? I don't have a CD I could use right now.

Be careful because if the current hack uses a 'shadow c' it could cause problems.

At the very least, get an eeprom backup at the earliest stage possible and if possible a full c/d backup (not the 'shadow c').

If you have an iso, it should be ok to burn, just use the slowest possible speed.

On sometimes booting and not some mods would change what happens depending upon whether you power from the eject or the power button,

As for emulators some have been updated since then but I always liked having auto installer deluxe aka AID around. I have no idea if you will be able to find an active torrent, or other download, of it today.

As others mentioned if you don't have a crossover then most modern (as in made not so long after the xbox until now) network cards will do it for you if necessary. If really necessary it is not a hard mod if you are willing to solder a couple of wires.

Size usually appears on the FTP, though various other dashes and programs.

Thanks! Didn't occur to me to power on using the eject button. Will try it later.

Update: I am now able to copy dvd games to the hdd.

I was also able to run Hexen 2017, install Xmbc and UnleashX.

I can't seem to find UnleashX though and the apps in XMBC is empty.

How do I boot to the UnleashX dash?

Thanks!

Update:
Used Hexen 2017 to reinstall UnleashX and make it the default Dash.

Also bought a 2 USD cable and FTP'd Emulators and roms(also a few small games).

Didn't know this thing is a great emulation machine(Final Burn Legends)!

Now if I could only get my hands on a compatible HDD...

Thanks guys!

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
