Splatoon Girl Hand Gesture Removed from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Deemed "Offensive"

On the recent update of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe v1.1 Nintendo has removed the hand gesture of Splatoon Girl because some people might feel offended by it.

This is insane. Even Mario Kart isn't safe from what this or that might be considered "offensive." :(

Splatoon Girl was only doing the hand gesture "YES!" and this is deemed unacceptable.

For those that may defend the censorship, there are people who may indeed find it disrespectful but that's them and in real life, this is a fictitious, harmless video game that should be left alone from being censored.

Plus, Nintendo likes to shit on people. Apparently, in MK8 there's someone cursing, but it's heavily covered and you need tools to rip the audio and clean it up.
sauce?

Are people really complaining that Nintendo removed a gesture that literally means "fuck you / up yours" in half the world from a children's video game?
Then even showing peace sign means "Gay" and so we will censor it because somebody got his little feelings hurt

Holy shit, this is pathetic. It is a children's game. When I was a little kid and actually found out what flipping the bird was, when I saw someone do it I'd get all offended, because I was a fucking kid. If this was an adult-oriented game then yeah I could kinda see why people are mad at this, but IT IS A CHILDREN'S GAME.

Before Nintendo pointed this out as "rude" gesture there wasn't anyone complaining, or so it seemed. While now it's a big controversy about the hand gesture. Wow.

If this gesture is offensive to some countries in the world, then they should add burkas to all the female characters. Because their faces being visible is offensive to some countries in the world.
Yes. Every character should be completely clothed and without showing any slight of skin at all.

No. Just correcting you on the game age rating. If it were for childrens it would just be rated eC for preschoolers.
Games rated "Early Childhood" are usually for preschoolers and kindergarteners specifically and usually are educational games. Most games rated E are rated that because they're geared primarily toward slightly older children, and because of that are supposed to be fine for everyone to play.

In this case I think it's better to be safe than sorry. Just because nobody's complained about it until now doesn't mean that they won't later.

You made it sound like kids were the only target audience...
