Indeed, that part took the most time, probably 3 of the 5 hours. @_@
the method that worked best for me, for the 3 ribbon cables i had to fit through the hinge, was to get a piece of tape and take some of the stickiness away, just touch it on your shirt etc.
then stick the tape to/around the ribbon cables, bunching them up to make them small and tight enough to fit through the hole. and have tape coming off it, like a 'tail'.
then feed the tape 'tail' though the hinge and pull, it worked great for me, i wish i thought of it sooner.
there might be better ways but it was much better than doing it without.

id love to do this i have an extra entire shell, and i have dual IPS on my edition. Ive done the motherboard swap, joystick swap, other basic things, worked with electronics etc besides the 3ds, however the thing that scares me i guess is those stupid top LCD ribbon cables, to do this swap everything has to come apart 100% doesn't it?

How in the hell do you get the cables in the hinge without tearing them. Thats my only issues when attempting to repair these.
I rolled them up really tight, and slid them through. You can roll them tight as hell without ruining them.
Anyone re-button/shell your 3DS? I was thinking of putting the white buttons in my Hyrule edition, but after playing around with Photoshop I'm not sure white looks good on the black--and I already ordered the parts...
Agree, maybe gold buttons would be better? Since, if memory serves me, it has golden front plate with try force logo
Yeah, it's gold plates with black inside. Got the white buttons to make the colored legends stand out more, but now I'm not so sure. I'm still replacing the sticks with a gold metal control pad and a gold PSP nub for the c-stick.
