It all depends on what version your 3ds is. If it's anything less than 11.0 you can do it freely with no extra software needed. (Games, save backup and homebrew edit tools. Even a pokemon bank made in homebrew)

If so, just follow the plailect guide and you'll end up with an updated "permanent" cfw enabled to be able to do whatever you want with your 3ds. Just tell me your system version and we'll point you on where to start from.

You can find the system version inside the system settings applet (the one with a wrench icon)

Thanks for the response. To be honest i bought the 3DS on Ebay, so i would get the console this week.

I kinda know that Version 11.0 is a little problematic. So lets say that i have V 11. My main question is if i can play Pokemon XY-ORAS in a flashcard (And wich one) and if i can, would i be able to use all the online features? I think that with a pokemo ROM and some programs i can edit the save files and edit in-game pokemons.

My second question is that if i decide to buy the game, can i edit the save files and restore it in the cartridge?

If i cant do this with V 11, can i do it with other versions?

Thanks a lot for the help.

PD: Por lo que veo hablas español, cierto? No se si se permite en el foro pero me seria de mucha ayuda las respuestas en español. Si se es posible podrias enviarme un direct, o intercambiar correos o lo que sea?

Has anyone figured out how to use hans via the Homebrew Launcher Loader under 11.1.0-34? Is it even possible right now? I hate having to use NTR for screenshots.

This is more a general question, which could involve the console's region (most likely), or Luma, or Freeshop. I dunno.

Japanese model o3DS LL. Not N3DS. Belongs to my daughter, bought on vacation in Tokyo in 2013. Wasn't getting a lot of use, so I applied Plailect's guide.

Installed: A9LH, Luma CFW, FBI, Freeshop, etc.

Issue: Installed the US version of "Mario Tennis Open" using Freeshop. When opened to play, it's the Japanese version.

Other US games load and play in English, even though it is a J console, thanks to Luma. But for some reason, this tennis game won't cooperate. I tried deleting and reinstalling, in case I messed up the first time, but I'm definitely selecting the US version in Freeshop, and definitely getting the J version anyway.

This isn't a huge deal ... I've got the game on cartridge and there's a US o3DS (non-XL though) in the house on which she can play it. Still, would like to have it work as intended. Help?

I have what's probably a generic and already asked problem but I don't want to search through 1529 pages of posts so I'll say it: this has only started happening recently, but when I try to add ANY homebrew app to my 3ds, they show up with no icon and the description says unknown publisher (it used to work normally, and I'm on n3ds 11.0 running supermysterychunkhax) and when I launch them there is only a red screen with a few distorted pixels in the bottom left corner.

It probably had multiple languages inside the game and picks the one corresponding to the console language. Try using Luma's language emulation. I'm not sure how it works but you should be able to google it.

using method
:SysNAND Restore (Keep a9lh)
select:
NANDmin.bin

and it placed me into sys 9.2.0

i just got a 3DS XL (its on 9.2 firmware) that already currently has rxtools on the SD card. It's accessed by navigating to a website link, the screen goes a bit funny and then the menu reappears with the programs and such from the card. This is all fine, but i am wanting to change to the Luma CFW instead and i have no idea how to do that.

i looked at this guide here and yet i have absolutely no idea whatsoever im actually supposed to do: http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-updating-from-rxtools-to-luma3ds.427735/

this is what my SD card currently looks like too if that helps: http://i.imgur.com/h1Suv20.png

I don't wish to do the A9LH process (its more risky, i believe), i just want the simplest/noob proof way to update to Luma. I have downloaded the latest 6.3.1 release and extracted it to Luma3DSv6.3.1 and i have a bunch of subfolders with hax and mset in the name and an arm9loaderhax file, etc. I want to be able to boot straight into Luma when its all done, i just have zero idea what that tutorial is telling me to do.

I'm looking for a flashcard to play Professor Layton in english, as I can only find it in dutch where I live :/
Are there any 3ds cards that don't require any software hacks? So just pop in the card, and it works? I was looking at the list of cards in the wiki, but I'm not sure witch row represents what I'm asking.

Edit: It looks like I'm looking for a Sky3ds+. Correct?

I have a 2DS, version 11.0.0.33.

Thanks a lot!

Quickest way is to rename the .3dsx file in the luma download to boot.3dsx and put it on the root of your card. This will make you autoboot into Luma instead of the homebrew launcher or your boot manager.

I am just finished the DSi downgrade step from Plailect's guide. The N3DS I'm downgrading is on 11.0.0-33, do I NEED to use steelhax as an entrypoint for the Homebrew launcher step?

I used oot3dhax, but my system was on 11.1. You can use any entrypoint that works on 11.0. The guide just mentions the only free entrypoint for 11.0, which would be steelhax.

Thanks, the guide states "Continue from Homebrew Launcher (No Browser), using steelhax for your entrypoint instead of one of the ones listed." so I thought steelhax allowed for some special access which was needed to complete the process. Just wanted to make sure that wasn't the case. Thanks again :)

HI All,

I hope someone can help me.

I have bought an Original Gateway Flashcard (with White and Blue card) way back then without realizing that it didn't work with the New 3DS XL.

So I left it for a while, and then played some retail games like Smash Bros. Etc

So now I want to get back to it and it seems gateway works with N3DS Now, but the guide seems complicated and I'm not sure if I need to update my N3ds first or buy orcarinia of time?

What I want to do with my N3DS:
- Play Retail games that I bought (like pokemon X Y or upcoming Sun / moon, mario kart. Etc)
- Play "backup";) Games, if you know what I mean
- If Possible, ability to Play Online
- Optional: Cheat in some games, mostly single player:D

I have a N3DS XL with version 9.2.0-20E

So here are my following questions:
1.) How do I install Gateway onto the system? Do I need to buy orcarina or cubic ninja? Is there a safe step to step guide?

2.) Would buying a Sky3ds+ be easier to accomplish what I want to do as stated above?

3.) do I need to update? I heard not to update and should downgrade instead?

I don't really want to install CFW on top of the system, because I might want to still buy retail games .etc

Thanks and sorry for the long read! :ha:

I dont' want to install to the CFW

question about Part 3 and the SafeA9LHInstaller:
I do HAVE TO find that 10.0 native firm somewhere and copy it to the a9lh folder before I can continue?
It doesn't say anything about that part in the tutorial, only in the sa9lhinst download page... just need to be sure

I have a NAND that belongs to a 3DS from months ago. The system is now A9LH'd, but that saved NAND was back when the system used MenuHax. Is it possible to use that NAND to restore my system? If so, can I retain A9LH?

Use Hourglass9 (keep pressing START while booting)
Hourglass9 always keeps your A9LH untouched.

But if you formatted the console after that NAND backup, you''ll also need the corresponding "Nintendo 3DS" folder on the root of the SD if you want the contentes that were with it.
