Guys, this is a really cheap deal, I mean, it is a G6 product. G6 has always costed double of competitors, and it also had less memory. Now you get 1GB ONBOARD memory, and the quality of a G6 product! Why can't you guys understand that the R4 + 1gb memory card is not the same as the G6? They are on a different level.

Also, the price for flash carts has dropped incredibly. I remember paying like $150 for a low end GBA flash cart. Stop with the bashing just because the price is $10 more. The G6DS will have far more capabilities than the R4, I still have hope that they'll make download play right.Â

They're not on a different level, they're the same aside from removable or built-in storage which is personal preference. And the price difference is not $10 but $20. Seeing as these devices are cheap now it's a big price difference (~30%).

Download play does not work properly. If it works it would justify the price difference but reality is that it currently doesn't. This is how G6 it's price point has always been justified in the past; it was actually a better product.

My thoughts, exactly. Maybe some consider these small advantages worth the $20 difference, and I'd probably agree, if perfect download play was on the list of advantages that is. Speed really isn't an issue; I think I can wait the few extra seconds of loading time if it means I can get a removable memory method with nearly the same compatibility for $20 less.

Saying the price is great "for what it is" isn't really saying much in this case, since built-in memory is more of a neutral feature than a pro or con (I personally prefer built-in as long as it has enough space) and there's no real popular opinion as to which is better. After that, it's all about software differences like the cheat function. So "what it is" basically becomes only a slight difference between the much cheaper removable-memory solutions.

People need to understand this: Some people have trouble/prefer not to mess with Micro SD cards. For example, in my country it's pretty hard to get a decent Micro-SD card for a good price without importing. Another example, some people don't want to order multiple things for one purpose. Or another, some people want the cart as simplified as possible.

For these people, 60-something dollars is definitely worth the money. For others, there's the R4 (heh this sounds like a Mastercard commercial). I'd definitely buy the G6 if I didn't think that the relatively-ancient M3 SD Slim I have already does the job.

That's true. Slot 2 cards used to be expensive compared to what slot 1 cards are now. I didn't expect this as a price, but I guess it's reasonable.

Oho, £33? My wallet still hurts from when I jumped on the DS flashcart scene by buying the M3 CF from ebay when it was released for £70 and another £15 for a 512mb CF card. But I didn't care since my previous flash cart was a F2A 256MB ultra which only held ONE rom. So imagine my surprise when I can store not only DS roms but also tons of GBA roms as well.

*Lights a pipe while rocking in a chair* Eeee by gum I tell thee. You know those floppy disks drives for the SNES? 4 floppy disks to hold a FF6 rom which has been split up and then loading each disk individually....... okay, this happened 2 years ago because I borrowed it from my friend but it's worrying to figure out that was how people pirated in the 90's

I am still amazed at the R4DS and Kingston bundle... It is so cheap and it runs so well...
Honestly though, Nintendo should do something against piracy. Sony doesn't stand by it although their attempts are futile. Microsoft doesn't stand by it either and is probably the best when it comes to tackling piracy (*Current X360 situation is what I'm talking about). Nintendo takes it up the ass and releases statements every once in a while telling people not to commit piracy on their consoles. They need to do more. But I do think Nintendo is using piracy to their advantage. Think about it, for every R4 that sells, there needs to be a DS for it to be used in. Nintendo rather have people buy a R4 and a DS than people not buying a DS at all because they don't want to pay for games.

* Off topic: Everyone with an Xbox 360 on my street was banned. No more Live for us.

Anything they do will either be insignificant and go unnoticed, or it will get press coverage and inform millions of people that they can steal every DS game for $50. IMO Nintendo is doing the smart thing by not making a big deal out of the existance of flashcarts.

Yeah...

my N-Card costs 40$ with 2 gigabytes of memory and DLDI support and more features then the G6 Real...

Not more features but it is certainly much cheaper, with more memory.

I wouldn't be so tight about pricing if i had more than a part time job (i'm 16yr old too) and also the fact that i wasted $130 AU on 2 sandisk 1gb microsd cards, because the first one broke and the second one had slow read times wtf! sandisk hate! Plus in general htat you can't buy japan kingstons nearby or even at a reasonable price and sandisks are so exorbantly priced (crap i spelt that wrong didn't i).

Ok enough of my hate rant. I'll probably buy one anyway, but only the 2gb one (1gb FTW!). And if they delay the 2gb too long i'll dump them and buy a MK5 2Gb (n-card clone).

I payed 35 AUD for a N-CARD 1GB at dealextreme. I would rather have slow right times then pay 20 dollars more for something with a shiny card carrying case.(the R4 has gone up on dealextreme BTW)

not sure about this one. i payed about 120 bucks for my g6 lite and passcard 3 together in fall 06 and at the time i thought that was kind of expensive. Sure this is cheaper ( being a different device type and a different time), but still it seems like a bit much. I know half of you have war stories about how in your day cards were made out of wood and whatnot, but thats not really convincing me that this is worth it. ah, who am i kidding. ill probably save up enough money to get it anyway.

"Writing a rom onto the N-Card takes forever, supposedly the G6DS Real will have times like MicroSD cards. And the cart is better quality. And comes from a place that is known to mark prices up because of it."

Exactly what better futures? G6 Real doesn't even have homebrew support, whereas N-Card is the FIRST device EVER in existence to have automatic DLDI patching. Not to mention that 100% of the games work regardless. Where as even on the R4, the latest game that just came out today doesn't even work.

N-Card > All.

Does the G6 Real have DLDI? N-Card Does
Does the G6 Real have automatic DLDI Patching? N-Card Does
Does the G6 Real have 100% game compatibility? N-Card Does
Does the G6 Real have a cheaper price tag then the N-Card? Nope.

N-Card > G6 Real.

Also, don't bother saying that the G6 and R4 have cheat support and N-Card doesn't because I went to NDBBS (Or something like that) a couple days ago and used a translator and they are working on cheat support. They first wanted to get the new menu down first.

Come on..that's a lame comparison. Saying N-card will have cheat support is like saying G6 will have DLDI support. G6 real also has 100% game compatability and unlike N-Card some games do work in download play. If you don't care about cheating, slow write times and limited download play then N-Card is a decent choice but that's a matter of personal preference.

Also a personal dislike of mine is that it needs slot-2 to write roms. I'd prefer to use my slot2 flash card for playing a game while it's burning as it takes a while.

how did you manage to spend 130 AUD on 2 cards? They've sold for no more than 30-35 AUD for the past year.

ah, they are ultra II because at the time i thought they were pretty good. I got a really bad slow one for my second one, i'm thinking that maybe they changed their manufacturing process or something.

So in other words, people that are too lazy to buy things separately, even though it will save them money.

well maybe some people will consider buying this over the R4 at first buy but if u already have an R4 u wouldnt want this.
Like me, i dont have a R4 but still think its that worth to buy for only few games to work and maybe later firmwares may cause this game to work so just holding onto it is better esp with kingston SD card
