I managed to run the gateway menu on my frankenfirmware. What do I do now? I cannot restore my NAND (it wont let me) and the TimeMachine says that my console is from Japan, (and it's from USA). So this is really fu**ed up.

Well, this is weird. So yea, updated to the 4.1b launcher.dat since @Aroth said it was fine. But now when trying to launch it after a while on Luma, it just... hangs at showing the dragon logo. After a few attempts, it then said my red card needed a firmware update, and offered to do that. But so far yet, it still won't actually launch into the payload for it.

What the heck's going on?

Well, deleted the old file from 4.0b and put in the gw_timemachine.3ds from the 4_1b folder. Just now made a point to re-extract from winrar and send it over again fresh... that .3ds file is ~407KB according to Windows. There is also a slot0.bin, 0.bin, 1.bin and 0000000.bin in there, which I'm guessing is for the cheat engine? Of course, the archive of the cheat files from Fort42 in their own folder on there, too.

After that, just all .3ds ROMs for games. No .nds files or .dat files anywhere to be seen.

**EDIT** Put the microSD back in after that, and now it works again...?

Augh, this crap is really testing my patience.

So it sounds like in the process of downgrading (either from 4.x to 2.1, or during what ever resulted in you getting that updated browser) someone used a JPN firmware pack instead of a USA. My first guess would be you accidentally downloaded the Time Machine data pack for JPN instead of USA. If this is the case, you are really fucking lucky that it booted at all.

For shits and giggles, try booting gateway with the red cart inserted and no micro sd card inside it.

I swear, I didn't do that, I'm not THAT dumb, I'm pretty sure I downloaded the "tm_o3ds_usa.bin" file from the official page.

Well, a quick update, I just installed Sysupdater and rxTools, now I am updating to 9.2 i think. Wish me luck.

EDIT: Everything is fine, I think... I'm on 9.2.0-20U yaaay!

Just to make doubly sure everything is working as intended, boot into your sysnand with Luma3DS and run sysupdater at least one more time with the 9.2.0-20U files in the updates folder. Select the "downgrade" option to make sure it overwrites any oddball files with the 9.2 ones.

Then when you get ready to setup A9LH again (if you decide to take the risk after this), use Plailect's guide, not Gateway's.

My english isn't the best, but I will try to explain it.

In the middle of a downgrade, (from 4.5 to 2.1) something failed, and the message "an error has ocurred" appeared.
I was in despair, I tried everything, I searched everywhere on the NET. I tried the page go.gateway-3ds, and a thousand of pages like that to run the exploit with the Gateway's launcher.dat. Then I tried to install rxTools 3.0, but It didn't worked.

So, I was thinking that, if the pages run the payload automatically, they may be running the wrong payload. Because I had a combination of 4.5 and 2.1.
I installed an APP from Playstore, (thinking that the app would let me choose the payload, but it didnt), and hosted the launcher.dat of gateway. I inserted the IP that the app gave me on my 3ds, and it worked. I was on the Gateway menu. The page go.gateway never worked, but the app worked. Strange, huh?
The same app, had an option to run rxTool.dat as well, and it worked. (The official pages to install rxTool didn't worked). And that's pretty much how I did it. Then I just installed FBI.cia and sysupdater.cia, I downloaded the 9.2 files of USA and updated. Now everything is working smoothly.

Sorry for the broken english.

I think I'll give it another shot. But I'll be more cautious this time and use the Plaitec's guide... I'll be back!

Just a reminder to all, if you're willing enough to try GW's A9LH, for testing purposes, refer to this guide.
