Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Okay, I have a new 3ds with stock firmware 10.6.0-31U that I want to install CFW on.

I also have an o3ds with CFW (I think Cakes, I don't remember), and a blue button sky3ds.

What is the best way to install an initial payload and load homebrew launcher? I am looking through the hacks in plailect's guide ( https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-1-(Homebrew) ) , but does anyone have a recommendation for what would be the easiest / most effective?

EDIT: It seems the best options are smash, oot3ds, or super mystery. I see that oot3ds and supermystery seem like a lot of work, in terms of injecting the code into the saves on the o3ds. Are saves not locked to specific NNID / users / systems?

I think I will try smash, even though I have to set up a liveboot dvd, etc.

Is there any information that has been discovered since these hacks were revealed, that would make it better to use one rather than another, or that one would need to be aware of before trying to apply them?

My thanks. I'm good with Computers, so I should be able to figure this out (I hope), just not good with CFW and the like.

Is there a way to move files to and from the SD card once it's already in the 3DS? I have the N3DS and I hate having to remove the backplate and then ejecting the SD card every time I need to add or remove something from the card.

So, to play DSiWare and GBA games i must do something to the TWL_FIRM right?
I say this because i cannot play any DSiWare or GBA games. They just keep on a black screen :l

Hey, I am wondering...
How can I turn on emunand on CFW sysnand?
I tried to activate it via Luma3DS, but it still always say "sys" in system setting.
Is there a way to change it to emu?

Well, you cannot transfer files from one SD card to another wirelessly, so no.

You can use FTbrony to tranfer thru ftp.

hi guys. i got through all the process. I just had 1 last question. I got a pokemon game but it asks me to update. would this cause any issues if i wanted to use battle or trade options?

go to that one 3ds iso site and look for the pokemon game's update cia

Smashhax is N3DS only, so you'll need to use one of the other options. Also, Smashbroshax is significantly more work than OoThax or Supermysterychunkhax.

The hax have been the same for a while now. I believe OoThax is more stable than Supermysterychunkhax, but other than that, they will both accomplish the same thing.

TWL_FIRM and AGB_FIRM need to be modified. TWL_FIRM is for DSi and AGB_FIRM is for GBA.

h&s inject failed. hs.enc wrong size. Using current Decrypt9WIP. ANY other possible causes / solutions?

Hey!
So i have tried to install both AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM .cias in my 3DS but they still get a black screen...
Should i delete them? Or what should i do? :o!

Hey GBAtemp, it's been a while and I lost track of the 3ds scene.
What I have:
- 9.2 N3DS
- gateway card with like 9.8 emunand
- CN cart
What I found out
- arm9loaderhax
- some kind of automated gw installer for that
- some cfw called luma3ds which sounds like the most reliable one now
What I want to know
- should I do the downgrade + extract etc manually and install the luma3ds cfw, or should I let everything be automated by gw tools? Is there a reason I shouldn't?

If I misunderstood anything, do point it out. i haven't finished my research and caught up with the scene yet.

I've been unable to keep up with what's going on. I'd just like to know is it safe to update a N3DS emunand to the latest and is it safe to access the eShop and play online?

I have an o3DS with a fresh a9lh install. I followed the guide on an empty SD card and succeded.
I also have an SD card with my old Gateway EmuNAND: can I flash my current al9h setup with it, replacing sysNAND? If so, how?
