Coming in since you called me in from PM;

The way that the kernel exploit is looking like it works, it looks like: Yes, cheat codes will be 100% usable, but no, because of how they work they will not be able to be used online (you cannot access the browser from an online match since you can't pull the home menu up and the console is already multitasking by connecting to the server and running the game)

Plus, please, please don't "hack" online should it ever become an option. First of all, if you're using codes that somebody else developed, don't glorify it and say it's hacking, it's just cheating, and regardless of whether you made the codes or you found them online, just don't do it. It ruins the experience for everyone and you'll probably just get banned anyway
i don't care about playing legit and you could put every type of gameplay style into that category including hacking if you argue it hard enough.
e-e you've just ensured that I will not take a single argument you make from here on seriously

I hope Nintendo has a ban hammer. There is no way to cheat online without the servers seeing it. The question is will they monitor it? I hate online cheating. It is not a nicer kind of hate, lol. Not sure how online cheating will be prevented and nwplayer123 rightfully won't give specific details. The "chain of trust" is already broken. A professional company with engineers had their work exploited. No offense intended BUT other "hacker created security" like Devolution's has been hacked. It was not released publicly though.

Of course it's not unbreakable, it really comes down to how hard we make it and how willing people are to go after it. But delaying the use of the exploit for cheating is still a good thing.

The only big question I have is whether cheats will be easy to use, like open mid-game Wii U browser and load the cheats from a web page.

Please, someone in the Wii U hacking scene tell me if this is the whole idea behind cheat implementation. Easy and safe...

Don't get me wrong I'm all for using back ups, that's great but cheating with games I'm a massive no no in that department, it just ruins everything in my opinion especially with games like Mario Kart, I would really hate for that to happen! I don't even use the spider hack for MK7 on the 3DS, that's how much I hate cheaters.

I would like to use cheats just for messing around in games and for fun like a super Hookshot code for Wind Waker HD, Moonjump for Super Mario 3D World or a Mushroom Stacker for Smash Bros for Wii U for example. All offline of course.

But yeah, certainly not online because that will just ruin it for everyone else.

Please tell me you are joking, right :unsure: ...delaying the exploit for just cheating purposes is a good thing?

It's not being delayed just for that purpose, we've said before that it's not ready for the public. The exploit is not completely reliable, and only works on a limited number of systems right now due to web exploit availability.

Wii online hacking got quite crazy on some games which got released very early. I don't know but I guess less people expected how it will turn out, due to that some publisher already made protections such as server side things to prevent wifi cheating. Just compare mkwii or brawl with the latest CoD games for wii. In fact they did not a bad job with it since it worked (at least on a few games). However, imo it is up to everyone else what to do with cheats. Questions like: Do they even work online how we expect? Did Nintendo learn from the wii wifi system and improved it? How successful will be the "Ban hammer" since people managed to spoof ingame information and console-related datas WITH CHEATS as well to bypass it. Nobody can tell yet so these questions are unanswered for now.

But of course, who wants a ruined online mode...

so what it's just a game

If that's how you feel, why ruin the online experience for others who are having fun? After all, it's just a game.

Not to hijack this thread, but my question is related to the topic. After the kernel exploit, will we be able to put custom/ported battlefields into the battle maps? I loved battle in MK64, but for whatever reason, Nintendo hasn't got battling right since that game, the biggest mistake in this game was thinking people wanted to battle on short tracks instead of arenas. If we could bring back the N64 battle arenas, I'd be so happy.
