Going off my last question, can .cia games installed on the home screen also be updated through the prompt or does one have to download separate .cia updates?

Not sure I understand your question but I believe you must have a GW card to run GW mode emunand.

Not sure what you consider cheap but a GW will cost about $70 maybe less if you buy from China.
Don't you have to have a Gateway card to do anything?
Check the EmuNAND 8+ section here.

I have done it both ways. Here is the problem: from my understanding DLC you did not purchase gets deleted when you enter eshop. I don't have any so have not personally experienced the issue. To circumvent this some have a separate card with a emunand that they use for eshop and then inject and copy the data over to the working emunand.

Apparently not with the new 3.x launcher. I have GW so I have not paid close attention to all the threads of people doing stuff without the card. Don't quote me on this but I think you can downgrade and do some limited things with CFW and run classic mode. You will just need to search back through the threads a couple of weeks. Maybe take a look at the tutorial section. Certainly it is not an optimal solution.

Would that be just a dump copy operation, or some other means?

btw, is it possible to launch gateway mode without emunand? (just curious)

btw 2, Is there a way to switch between gateway and classic mode without rebooting to the sysnand first?

You would have to inject the eshop emunand into your working emunand with the emunand tool and copy over the files in the 3ds folders.

I have read you can launch gateway mode without emunand though I am not sure how. There was a thread where some temper just hated the thought of emunand and insisted he do everything through sysnand. Whatever.

Unfortunately there does not appear any way to switch between the two. Someone made an android app that will run the exploit for you but nothing for IOS.

so, after using the eshop, the emunand to use is the one that saw the eshop, while contents of the sd card are merge of both pre- and after-eshop directories, right?

I think the emunand tool release and support thread gives several scenarios. Think of the emunand you use to access the eshop as just a shopping cart. You then inject/copy those "purchases" into your house where you keep and use all your stuff. :)

no need to use such analogies on me, just say how to do this in the technical way :P

I've searched it for both 'shop' and 'eshop' and didn't came up with anything that looks relevant (I don't have a hw flasher).

every time I start the emunand, the cia I instaled come in a gift again, this is common ?

it happens because you don't have emunand and sysnand separated (they share the same system folder in the SD card)

In short, to separate them you have to format sysnand (with the option inside Settings) without having the SD card inserted. Afterwards, the next time you insert the SD card, it will create a new system folder for sysnand inside the SD card.

You can find more detailed guides around here. ;)

Please help a noob

I'm getting my GW today, and a 3DSXL fw 6.2.0.12.

I should follow this guide:
http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_forums/threads/286487-3DS-N3DS-Gateway-Ultra-Guide

do get my FW to 4.5?
then simply just download roms and put them in ? simple as that?

anything else I need to know? I do i run the exploits to start GW etc?

thanks in advance

have you read the guide? Everything you need to know and do is there ;)

If you have any other question while doing it, just ask here or there. Someone will reply.
