I just thought of something. If a 5.0-6.0 system uses this exploit and it doesn't have emunand, they are shit out of luck playing newer games requiring higher firmwares, right? I guess it's best to first update to 8.1 with Smash Bros. and then use Gateway.

All it's known is that EmuNAND wasn't in this supposed private beta.
If this does give access to a Kernel level shenanigans unlike public ninjax, can't they bundle a .3ds whatever app to make it boot on the menu for select/backup/brick/burn nands?

Didn't one of the Gateway releases have a public beta that was leaked?

Guess this time Gateway only issued it to people they could really trust, and since it's web based, it would be harder to spread.

Question... Do you want to risk trying a leak and have it "brick your shit*" or wait for the proven official release?

How is it with save migration? Is copying SD files enough or do I have to export them with savedatafiler and import them to the second handheld?

Emunand not added is a huge bummer for people who want to play games online like super smash bros.

I don't feel confident installing CIA files to my sysnand incase it permanently damages the system. At least with an emunand, you know its just a quick format away.

Does the lack of emunand affect more N3DS owners ? I saw some of you complaining about that, dunno why as usual x)

Installing to SysNAND isn't any more risky than installing to emuNAND.

The difference is that if something does go wrong on emuNAND all you need do is format or inject a backup made with emuNANDtool.

If something goes wrong on SysNAND however your system is bricked, then the only way to recover is to use a hardmod to restore a backup. Nobody (to my knowledge) has successfully installed a hardmod on the new3DS models.

The only .cia that i know that fucks with the sysnand directly is the DS flashcart unblock thing, the rest should be safe (from trusted sources of course).

Was thinking of this too. I'm on 7.1 so not too far back but thinking i maybe should pick up smash bros before I exploit.

I'm sure a lot of people here would go ahead and risk it.

I'm sure they would. And I'm sure they'd all blame Gateway for the problem, badmouth them, not realise that they should have been ready and had a realNAND backup system (as per tutorials), and overall... possibly "brick their shit". Which is why, of course, Gateway selects these testers in the first place. The testers have the knowledge to fix whatever breaks, send it to Gateway, and let them know something needs changed.

I dunno' about you... but I don't think many here have that kind of knowhow, patience, and accountability.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150

Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
