Just a thought: If you transferred your mons to another copy of the game and made them shiny there, couldn't that let you keep your original id number swell as your name?

No.

As has been said already, they only modify the trainer ID.

TID^SID^HPID^LPID < 16. Nothing in this equation is changed but TID.

mine came in the mail today, earlier than expected saturday morning to monday morning is decent speed from the opposite side of the country.
to answer my own question from before no it can't read original ds savegames.
does anyone know the best way to backup and restore gamesaves from 4th and 5th gen pokemon games?
also if anyone wants me to shiny or clone some of their pokemon i'd be willing to do a few.

If their not codes then what are they? aye explain that to me? how is it these cheats are working if their not modifying any values? for unlimited items, shiny pokemon etc. As far as I'm concerned they are codes . They are modifying values inside the save game to achieve these modifications. People keep saying their not but they are.

they only edit the savegames, it can't modify the actual game like action replay/gameshark.
so no codes for say modify wild pokemon, or 10x experience after battle.

Why would you want to throw away a perfectly good item, no reason to.

also just get 999 rare candies and use them one at a time.

Since the powersaves device sends your save file to their servers edits it and sends it back where it is then sent back to the cartridge it is possible to modify the save file and still use it so a pokegen type application would be possible.

I'm not great with this stuff but I'm sure it'd be possible for someone to make a program that intercepts the save file that's being sent to the powersaves servers to allow people to edit it (kind of like the one that intercepted the battle info but since this is coming from the powersaves software and not the game cartridge it shouldn't be blocked) and then have it sent back to the program for it to put it back on the save cartridge.

I imagine it's still encrypted until it gets to their servers so someone would have to figure out how to access the save info but I'm sure it'd be possible.

Another way to go about it could be if someone could make their own software that uses the powersaves device to access the game cartridge to extract the save file or make changes to it.

I'm running into an issue trying to use the PowerSaves 3DS device on my Windows 8.1 64bit laptop.

When I attach the device via USB to my computer, I get the "USB device not recognized" message from Windows.

"USB Device Not Recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it.
Recommendation: Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize it, your device may not be working properly."

Something I've been thinking about doing. Backing my save up, starting a new game and trying to reset for perfect-ish Yveltal. when I get it I upload to bank and load save from before. Would this work? I remember something about save files and 3ds and bad things happening. will power save overcome this? Anyone done it?

Have you tried using different ports, updating windows, restarting?
